THE BEAST (A&E) - The cable channel has formally pulled the plug on its second original drama. Said decision had been widely expected as the series averaged a modest 1.3 million viewers over the course of its 13-episode run. Co-star Patrick Swayze's availability obviously was a factor as well, as the 56-year-old actor is battling pancreatic cancer. A&E topper Bob DeBitetto called the series "a labor of love" and hailed Swayze's passion and tenacity.
THE OCD PROJECT (VH1, New!) - 3 Ball Productions ("Breaking Bonaduce") has booked a new series at the cable channel which follows a group of people suffering from severe forms of obsessive compulsive disorder. The untitled effort is in the mold of the network's "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew" as the participants will all live together for several weeks in a treatment facility and undergo both individual and group treatment. 3 Ball's JD Roth, Todd Nelson, Adam Greener and Matt Assmus are executive producing alongside VH1's Jeff Olde, Jill Holmes, Alex Demyaneko and Noah Pollack.
