THE GOOD WIFE (CBS) - Robert King and Michelle King have inked a two-year overall deal with CBS Television Studios. The pact, financial details of which weren't released, covers their duties on the Emmy-nominated drama as well as calls for them to develop new series projects for the studio.
IN PLAIN SIGHT (USA) - The cable channel has issued a two-season renewal for the Mary McCormack-led drama. Said deal comes on the heels of network sibling "Burn Notice" receiving a similar pickup back in April. The series wrapped airing its third season last month with season four likely due in the second quarter of 2011. 5.2 million viewers on average tuned into season three, 1.8 million of which fell into the key adults 18-49 demographic.
K BLOWS TOP (HBO, New!) - Paul Giamatti is set to topline a potential docudrama about Communist Party leader Nikita Khrushchev's two-week tour of the U.S. in 1959. Playtone's Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are behind the project, which is based on Peter Carlson's book of the same name. Paul Bernbaum will pen the adaptation, which will include Khrushchev's infamous flap over a planned trip to Disneyland being tabled because of security concerns. President Eisenhower invited Khrushchev to the U.S. in order to ease Cold War tensions over West Berlin, making stops in Washington, D.C., New York, Hollywood, San Francisco and Pittsburgh. Perri Kipperman and David Stern are attached as co-executive producers with Hanks and Goetzman executive producing.
THE MENTALIST (CBS) - Kevin Rankin ("Friday Night Lights") has scored a role on the show's upcoming third season. He'll play the potentially recurring role of Danny Ruskin, the "hustler, con artist, ladies' man - a cunning ne'er-do-well" husband of Patrick Jane's (Simon Baker) late sister.
