"LIVE LIKE A NEW YORKER" CONTEST LAUNCHES ON HGTV'S FACEBOOK PAGE IN JANUARY

NEW YORK, N.Y. (For Immediate Release - January 19, 2011) As part of the new season of HGTV's Selling New York, airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the network will offer the 'Live Like a New Yorker' contest, its first social media-based contest via the HGTV Facebook page. Beginning January 13, fans can upload videos of their New York City-inspired design project for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip for two to New York and a chance to meet network stars, including the cast of HGTV's Selling New York. The contest will run through Monday, February 28.

To enter the contest, viewers must submit a 90-second video showcasing their design project to HGTV's Facebook page. Entries - which can include anything from a room makeover to an urban tablescape or even a kitchen pantry with a New York theme - will be judged on creativity, the use of the theme and the participant's hosting skills. Participants can upload their videos directly to the HGTV Facebook page (http://facebook.com/HGTV) or post a You Tube link of their video submission to the contest site. The winner will be selected via an online vote.

"This is HGTV's most ambitious social media-based promotion to date because it invites anyone from armchair decorators, home stagers and design bloggers to showcase their individual design talents," said Annette Brun, vice president of consumer marketing, HGTV. "We encourage anyone with a passion for design - and a love of New York - to participate. The ultimate prize will be a trip of a lifetime for any HGTV fan."

HGTV already has made an impact through its Facebook presence, attracting more than 1.3 million fans. The contest, which was conceptualized by HGTV and created for Facebook by digital promotion specialists Brandmovers, uses social media, mobile communication platforms and interactive elements. The contest landing page enables users to calculate the value of their home if it were located in New York and offers online polls and a streaming video portal that allows visitors to vote for their favorite contest submissions.

HGTV's weekly series, Selling New York, follows a colorful group of assertive, razor-sharp brokers from three upscale boutique real estate firms - CORE, Gumley Haft Kleier and, new this season, Warburg Realty - as they offer viewers a rare glimpse inside the high-powered world of buying and selling luxury Manhattan properties.
