Season Two Premieres Friday, January 6 at 10pm ET/PT

New York, NY - [November 22, 2011] - IFC announced today additional guest stars who will be appearing in season 2 of the network's hit original series Portlandia premiering on Friday, January 6 at 10pm ET/PT. LaMarcus Aldridge (NBA's Portland Trailblazers), Shohreh Aghdashloo (The House of Sand and Fog, X-Men: The Last Stand), Ed Begley Jr. (Pineapple Express, Arrested Development), Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park, Independence Day), Sean Hayes (The Three Stooges [Fox Feature Film], Will & Grace), Miranda July (Me and You and Everyone We Know), and Kumail Nanjiani (Franklin & Bash) will be taking up temporary residence in the show's satirical rendering of Portland, OR. The series is created, written by and stars Fred Armisen (SNL) and Carrie Brownstein (Wild Flag, Sleater-Kinney) who bring to life many of the eccentric and unique residents of Portlandia.

Today's announced guest stars join actors Kyle MacLachlan (Desperate Housewives, Twin Peaks), Penny Marshall (Laverne and Shirley), Jack McBrayer (30 Rock), Tim Robbins (The Shawshank Redemption), Andy Samberg (SNL), Amber Tamblyn (127 Hours, House) and Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, SNL) as well as musicians Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse), Steve Jones (guitarist, Sex Pistols), Johnny Marr (guitarist, The Smiths), Joanna Newsom (singer/songwriter), Eddie Vedder (songwriter/ vocalist/ guitarist, Pearl Jam) and Annie Clark (songwriter/guitarist/vocalist, St. Vincent) who will also make guest appearances.

In anticipation of season 2, IFC.com today released a 22-minute behind the scenes featurette, Inside Portlandia [http://www.ifc.com/videos/inside-portlandia.php], which gives an inside tour into the genesis and inspiration for the dreamy and eccentric world of Portlandia. Through the eyes of Fred, Carrie and co-creator Jonathan Krisel, fans discover more about the characters and get to know Portlandia's creators on the set of season two. Fred and Carrie both share the early beginnings of their careers, what brought them together as friends and the transition of Portlandia from its birth online as ThunderAnt to its television premiere on IFC.

Inside Portlandia also features clips of the cast shooting season 2 and details on how Fred, Carrie and Jonathan came up with some of the most memorable sketches from season 1 including the Dream of the 90s music video, Put a Bird on It, and the Feminist Book Store, "Women and Women First." Celebrity commentary is provided by executive producer Lorne Michaels and guest stars Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudekis and Kyle MacLachlan.

Shot entirely on location in Portland, OR, Portlandia is directed, co-created and co-written by Jonathan Krisel (SNL; Tim and Eric Awesome Show), executive produced by Lorne Michaels and produced by Broadway Video.
