GEEK OUT (AMC, New!) - Ernest Cline (Fanboys) is set to host a potential reality series at the cable channel in which he travels the country and gives obsessed fans the surprise of a lifetime with a special experience related to their obsession. Farah Films' Dan Farah and Thinkfactory Media's Leslie Greif, Adam Freeman and Adam Reed are executive producing the project, which has a pilot commitment, alongside Cline. The search is underway for a co-host. (Deadline.com)
ONCE UPON A TIME (ABC) - British actress Emma Rigby is the latest addition to the show's proposed spin-off, now titled "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland." She'll play the Red Queen from Lewis Carroll's famed "Through the Looking-Glass" novel alongside the previously cast Sophie Lowe as Alice, Peter Gadiot as Cyrus and Michael Socha as the Knave of Hearts. The four-scene presentation begins production next week from a script by "Once" creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. (Deadline.com)
QUARRY (Cinemax, New!) - Graham Gordy and Michael D. Fuller have snagged a pilot order at the pay channel for a new period drama about "a Marine sniper who, upon his return home from Vietnam in 1973, finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public. Combat-hardened and disillusioned, he's recruited into a network of contract killers and corruption spanning the length of the Mississippi River." Said effort is based on the novels by Max Allan Collins while John Hillcoat is attached to direct. Hillcoat, Gordy and Fuller then will executive produce alongside Anonymous Content's Steve Golin, David Kanter, Matt DeRoss and Keith Redmon. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - USA reportedly is in talks with Sony Pictures Television to renew "Happy Endings" should ABC opt not to order a fourth season (Deadline.com); Alex Reid has inked a two-year overall deal with Sony Pictures Television where he'll serve as co-showrunner on NBC's upcoming comedy "MJF" (Deadline.com); Leila Strachan and Darlene Hunt have likewise signed two-year overall deals with ABC Studios and Sony Pictures Television, respectively (Deadline.com); Ellie Kemper will lend her voice to an upcoming episode of "American Dad" as "a popular girl Steve has secretly been in love with since kindergarten" (TVLine.com); and Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green and Emily Kinney have been upped to series regulars for the fourth season of "The Walking Dead" (Deadline.com).
