After 30 Years of Tremendous Success in Los Angeles, the Paley Center Partners with the New York City Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment to Celebrate the City's Thriving Media Industry in Response to Overwhelming Demand from the Paley Center's Fan Base and the Record Levels of TV Production in NYC

PaleyFest: Made in NY will feature a star-studded opening night reception, panels with the casts and creators of Orange is the New Black, Elementary, Boardwalk Empire, The Americans, Small Empires with Alexis Ohanian, The Outs, and more

New York, NY September 3, 2013 - The Paley Center for Media and the Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment will present the first annual PaleyFest: Made in NY on October 2-6 at the Paley Center in New York. For thirty years, The Paley Center for Media has presented the iconic PaleyFest in Los Angeles - the premier television festival in the country. PaleyFest: Made in NY builds on this history, reputation, and dedicated community, giving an audience of avid media consumers the opportunity to connect with leading creators - and one another - and have meaningful dialogue around quality programming and content. Confirmed panel events include the casts and creators of Orange is the New Black, Elementary, The Americans, Small Empires with Alexis Ohanian, The Outs, and Boardwalk Empire. Panel conversations will be streamed live globally during each program at paleycenter.org/live. "Bringing PaleyFest to New York City after 30 incredibly successful years in LA is a dream realized for the Paley Center and we could find no better partner than the New York City Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment to highlight the amazing breadth of media produced in the City," said Pat Mitchell, President & CEO of The Paley Center for Media. "The Paley Center's mission to lead and curate the discussion about the importance of media will bring television fans unparalleled access to the hottest, most talked about shows on the air and foster a greater understanding of how these shows are created, cast, and delivered."

"New York City has truly become a TV town in recent years with more primetime episodic series filming on our streets than ever before," said Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment. "Working with the Paley Center to celebrate the 'Made in NY' series that call New York City home is the perfect way to kick off a season of new dramas and comedies and highlight the thousands of New Yorkers who make their living working in the local film and television industry."

Additionally, the Paley Center and the Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment will present different events focused on educating the public about career opportunities in media in NYC. These events will be free and open to the public; additional details will be announced shortly.
