LAST TYCOON, THE (Amazon/TriStar; W/D: Billy Ray) - Lily Collins is the latest to be cast in the drama pilot, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's final unfinished novel inspired by the life of film mogul Irving Thalberg, about Monroe Stahr (Matt Bomer), Hollywood's first wunderkind studio executive in the 1930s as he climbs to the height of power pitting him against his mentor and current head of the studio Pat Brady (Kelsey Grammer), a character based on Louis B. Mayer. She'll play "Brady's young daughter Celia, a lost young rich girl in love with Monroe who begins taking her seriously after her intriguing movie pitch." Rosemarie DeWitt, Mark O'Brien and Enzo Cilenti also star. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED ALBERT BROOKS/LOUIS C.K. PROJECT (FX, New!) - Albert Brooks and Louis C.K. are set to team for a new animated comedy at the cable channel. No specifics were given about the project other than it has received a pilot order and will be co-produced by FX Productions and C.K.'s Pig Newton banner. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - FXX has opted not to proceed with its new animated comedy series "Cassius & Clay" despite placing a 10-episode order back in August (Deadline.com); NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution will pull the plug on "The Meredith Vieira Show" after two seasons (Deadline.com); Derek Wilson's Donny Schenck has been upped to series regular on AMC's "Preacher" (Deadline.com);

Yahoo has shut down Yahoo Screen, the video hub home to such original series as "Community" (Variety.com); Virginia Madsen will guest on "Elementary" as "a former NYPD detective involved in a budding relationship with Gregson (Aidan Quinn)" (EW.com); Robbie Amell will reprise his role as Ronnie Raymond on "The Flash," albeit as his villainous Earth 2 counterpart Deathstorm (EW.com); and Xander Berkeley's role on "The Walking Dead" as been confirmed as Gregory, "the leader of the Hilltop Colony, a coward to the core and a total nightmare for Maggie and Rick" (TVLine.com).

PLUS, WHILE WE WERE ON HOLIDAY BREAK... - Charles Aitken has been cast as Benjamin Franklin's arch enemy on "Sleepy Hollow," "a twisted, mysteriously brooding genius whose talents include alchemy" (TVLine.com); Kristen Bell will lend her voice to "iZombie" in a voice-over role for the show's eleventh episode (EW.com); and Betty Gilpin is bound for at least two episodes of "Elementary" as "a brilliant and socially awkward software engineer, who meets Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan (Lucy Liu) during a murder investigation" (EW.com).
