(Variety.com)
MACGYVER (CBS/CTS; W: Paul Downs Colaizzo; D: James Wan) - The Eye's reboot of Lee David Zlotoff's 1985-92 series - in which twentysomething Angus MacGyver gets recruited into the clandestine organization from the original series where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening - has been given the green light to produce a pilot. UNTITLED SEBASTIAN MANISCALCO PROJECT) (NBC/CTS; W: Austen Earl; D: TBA) - The Sebastian Maniscalco-led comedy - which "chronicles Sebastian's (Maniscalco) old-school values, instilled by his opinionated Italian father, which are constantly put to the test by his new wife, her family, and the absurdities of the modern world" - has been ordered to pilot by the Peacock. When his wife (Kadee Strickland) urges him to break out on his own, he's careful - because he knows that one wrong move will land him in a shallow grave. She'll play Rita, "the beautiful and sadistic matriarch of the Romani clan"; while he's set as Eduardo Bernal, "a powerful businessman who comes to Charlie for spiritual advice." (Deadline.com)
