DESIGNATED SURVIVOR (ABC/ABCS; W: David Guggenheim; D: Paul McGuigan) - Kal Penn, Maggie Q, Natascha McElhone and Italia Ricci have all been cast in the Kiefer Sutherland-led drama, about Tom Kirkman, "a lower level United States Cabinet member who is suddenly appointed President after a catastrophic attack during the State of the Union kills everyone above him in the Presidential line of succession." McElhone will play Jessica Kirkman, Kirkman's wife, a controversial EEOC attorney; with Q as Hannah Watts, the FBI agent in charge of the Capitol bombing investigation; Ricci as Emily Rhodes, Kirkman's Chief of Staff and longtime friend; and Penn as Seth Wheeler, a White House speechwriter. Sutherland and Guggenheim executive produce alongside showrunner Amy B. Harris, Simon Kinberg, Aditya Sood and Entertainment 360's Suzan Bymel. Paul McGuigan is set to direct. (Deadline.com)
ENFORCERS, THE (FOX, New!) - Writers Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer are set to team with director Gail Mancuso for a new female buddy comedy about two wildly different single mothers with dreams of being police officers who find themselves partnered as inspectors in the Code Enforcement Department. Instead of fighting crime, they have been relegated to handling petty code breaking, like noise complaints, tree trimming and water misuse. The single-camera project, which has a pilot order, is set up at Warner Bros. Television.
EYEWITNESS (USA/UCP; W: Adi Hasak; D: Catherine Hardwicke) - Tyler Young is the first to be cast in the upcoming drama, which delves into the lives of two innocent teenaged boys after they secretly meet up in the forest, bear witness to a shooting and barely escape with their lives. Desperate to keep their relationship a secret and in fear of being found by the perpetrator, they remain silent but soon learn that what has been seen cannot be unseen and when you witness a horrible event it changes everything, forever. He'll play Philip O'Brien, "a sensitive yet tough boy from the projects who's seen more pain than anyone ever should." (Deadline.com)
SENSORY (CBS/CTS/TriStar/; W: David Zabel; D: TBA) - The medical drama - about a fourth year med student diagnosed with mirror-touch synesthesia, a condition whereby he is able to vividly feel, or mirror, the physical and emotional sensations of other people - is heading to pilot at the Eye. Foundry Media's Roger Freet and Scott Free Productions' David W. Zucker and Ridley Scott also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED CHRIS CASE PROJECT (FOX/20th; W: Chris Case; D: Malcolm D. Lee) - The single-camera comedy - about Jay "Havoc" Hammond, an African American, ex-NFL lineman who recently moved in with his white wife and her two oddball sons, as he struggles to win the most challenging game of his life: fatherhood - has scored a pilot order from the network. Case, Chris Spencer, Evan Silverberg and Daniel Rappaport are executive producing alongside director Malcolm D. Lee for 20th Century Fox Television.
