NEW YORK, NY, July 14, 2016 - The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy(R) Award nominations today, honoring IFC with four nominations, including nominations for both Portlandia and Documentary Now! as outstanding variety sketch series. Previous Emmy(R) winner Portlandia garnered two additional nominations including outstanding writing for a variety series and outstanding production design for a variety, nonfiction, reality or reality-competition series. IFC's critically-acclaimed comedy, Documentary Now!, returns this fall for its second season and Portlandia will commence its seventh season on IFC early next year.

"All of us at IFC are thrilled and honored not only by these nominations, but at the opportunity to work side by side with such incredible talent in making these shows," said IFC President Jennifer Caserta. "Big thanks to Lorne Michaels, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, who absolutely embody smart alternative comedy and who make me laugh every day. I am proud and in awe of the entire teams at Portlandia and Documentary Now!"

Outstanding Production Design For A Variety, Nonfiction, Reality Or Reality-Competition Series - Portlandia, Schuyler Telleen, Katherine Isom,

Created by Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein and Jonathan Krisel, Portlandia continues to explores the eccentric misfits who embody the foibles of modern culture within the town of Portland, Oregon. The show has been nominated for 14 Emmy(R) Awards the past 5 years and won Outstanding Production Design For Variety, Nonfiction, Reality or Reality-Competition Programming in 2015, Outstanding Costumes For A Variety Program Or A Special in 2013, and Outstanding Costumes for a Variety/Music Program or a Special in 2011. Portlandia is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and produced by Broadway Video. In addition to their role as creators, Armisen, Brownstein and Krisel serve as writers and executive producers of Portlandia, along with Karey Dornetto and Graham Wagner. Broadway Video's Andrew Singer is also an executive producer. Veteran director Krisel was joined this past season by guest directors Steve Buscemi, Bill Benz and Daniel Gray Longino. Portlandia is shot entirely on location in Portland, Oregon. Season 7 returns to IFC next year.

Created and executive produced by Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers and Rhys Thomas, Documentary Now! quickly became a fan favorite its debut season thanks to its insightful comedic take on the most well-known documentary films. Each episode, delightfully hosted by Dame Helen Mirren, stars Armisen and Hader lovingly paying homage to a specific documentary and sharing a captivating (if completely untrue) story inspired by these timeless films. In addition to Armisen, Hader, Meyers, Thomas, Documentary Now! is also executive produced by Lorne Michaels, Alex Buono and Broadway Video's Andrew Singer. SNL's Thomas and Buono serve as the show's directors. John Mulaney (Mulaney, SNL) serves as co-executive producer and Erik Kenward (SNL) is consulting producer. Season 2 premieres on IFC this September.
