CHEWBACCA MOM JOINS TLC DIGITAL DESTINATION, TLCME, AS A CONTRIBUTING VLOGGER
Candace Payne or as the world knows her, Chewbacca Mom, is bringing her infectious laugh and joy-filled spirit to TLCme, TLC's digital destination. After a Facebook Live video of Candace trying on a Chewbacca mask became the most-viewed Facebook Live video in history (162+million views), she gained viral notoriety and media attention around the world. As she became more recognizable, Candace also performed her own arrangement of Michael Jackson's "Heal the World" via Facebook Live - a video which quickly went viral. She later recorded the song and it charted in the top 30 on iTunes within the first few hours of release. Her TLCme vlogs will continue to showcase her incredible sense of humor and powerful voice and give her a platform to share her positivity and energy.
TLCme will kick-off the relationship with two digital series with the first video debuting Monday, December 19th:
· 2 Truths & A Lie with Candace: In each episode, Candace will tell three elaborate stories, and then fans will be invited to guess which one is a lie in the Facebook comments of the post. The following day, Candace will host a Facebook Live session to reveal the truths and the lie.
· Sing-a-long with Candace: In each themed episode, Candace will perform an original song utilizing her musical talents with lyrics that are crowdsourced by her fans on social.
"We are thrilled to have Candace join the TLCme family. Her fun personality and endless creativity is exactly what the brand is all about," said Scott Lewers SVP, Multiplatform Programming & Digital Media, TLC. "We hope that by teaming up to create original content, we're able to share Candace's infectious energy, encourage conversation and be a bright spot in people's news feeds."
"Since posting my video on Facebook, life has been pretty crazy. I've had a lot of really awesome experiences, and now I'm adding to that list by joining the TLC family," said Payne. "I can't wait to share more videos, inspire more people and bring joy to someone's day with a little bit of laughter and fun."
In the last year, Candace has appeared on Good Morning America, Entertainment Tonight, The Late Late Show with James Corden and more. She was also invited to the headquarters of Lucasfilm for a personal tour; to Facebook where Mark Zuckerberg arranged for a photo shoot for Candace and "Chewbacca"; and to Hasbro, where she was presented with a "Chewbacca Mom" action figure in front of the entire company. Today, Candace continues to spread a message of joy through her thriving social media platforms, and in her speaking and singing engagements around the country. She and her husband, Chris, live in Dallas with their two children and their pug, Opal.
