A.P. BIOLOGY (NBC) - Mike O'Brien ("Saturday Night Live") has booked a pilot commitment from the Peacock for his single-camera comedy about "a hilariously cynical Ivy League professor who loses out on his dream job and goes to work as a high school biology teacher where he imposes his unorthodox teaching style and uses the kids to plot out revenge on those who wronged him." Seth Meyers, Mike Shoemaker, Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer are also on board to executive produce via the Universal Television-based Broadway Video. (Deadline.com)
CROWN, THE (Netflix) - Matthew Goode has been cast on the period drama's second season as Antony Armstrong-Jones, AKA, Lord Snowdon, "the society photographer who was married to Princess Margaret from 1960 until 1978 died peacefully at home this month at the grand old age of 86." (RadioTimes.com)
DOOMSDAY (ABC) - Mark Bianculli and V.J. Boyd's drama - about "a secret think tank featuring the most creative minds in science and entertainment that is tasked with dreaming up man-made disaster scenarios and their possible solutions" - is heading to pilot at the network. Carol Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz also serve as executive producers via their Sony Pictures Television-based Carol Mendelsohn Productions. (Deadline.com)
GOOD DOCTOR (ABC) - David Shore's import of Park Jae-bum's South Korean drama - about "a young surgeon with Savant syndrome who is recruited into the pediatric surgical unit of a prestigious hospital" - has been ordered to pilot by the Alphabet. Daniel Dae Kim, Sebastian Lee and David Kim also serve as executive producers for Sony Pictures Television with Shore Z's Erin Gunn and 3 AD's Lindsay Goffman as co-executive producers. HIGHSTON (Amazon) - The comedy project - ordered to series back in December 2015 - ultimately won't be moving forward at the streaming service. The news marks the second such instance of Amazon rescinding a series order, the first for "The After" in January 2015. (Deadline.com)
KILLER INSTINCT (A.K.A. DR. DEATH) (CBS) - The Alan Cumming-led drama - about "a former CIA operative who has since built a "normal" life as a gifted professor and writer but is pulled back into his old life when the NYPD needs his help to stop a serial killer on the loose" - has scored a pilot commitment from the Eye. Cumming, writer Michael Rauch, author James Patterson, Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Bill Robinson and Leopoldo Gout will executive produce for CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
LAST MAN ON EARTH, THE (FOX) - Kristen Wiig is bound for the Will Forte-led comedy in "a top-secret recurring role." (TVLine.com)
NIGHTCAP (Pop) - Lauren Blumenfeld's Penny Jones and Don Fanelli's Todd Mitchell have been promoted to series regulars for the show's recently ordered second season. (Deadline.com)
PERFECT CITIZEN (CBS) - The Craig Turk-penned drama - about "the former general counsel for the NSA who, after his involvement as a whistleblower in an international scandal, embarks on a new career at a storied law firm in Boston" - is the latest to score a pilot order from the Eye. CBS Television Studios is producing. (Deadline.com)
REVERIE (NBC, New!) - Mickey Fisher ("Extant") has received a pilot order for his drama spec, about "a former detective specializing in human behavior who is brought in when the launch of an advanced virtual reality program has dangerous and unintended consequences." Amblin Television's Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey as well as Fisher's manager Brooklyn Weaver will also executive produce for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)
STAR (FOX) - Missy Elliott and Rickey Smiley will both drop by the newcomer as Pumpkin, "a dangerous producer/recording artist who knew Carlotta (Queen Latifah) in her past life"; and "the MC of the Atlanta NexFest competition." (Deadline.com)
