New York, NY - April 26, 2017 - On Friday May 5th, MTV will host the 2017 College Signing Day featuring former First Lady Michelle Obama. The event will be held at New York City's Public Theater with more than 200 students from across New York City high schools. In addition to Mrs. Obama's event in New York, more than 1,000 College Signing Day events have been planned in nearly every state by communities, students and organizations committed to helping students pursue higher education. Mrs. Obama is encouraging people across the country to join her in marking College Signing Day by wearing college apparel and sharing the importance of higher education on social media through #CollegeSigningDay and #BetterMakeRoom.

Livestream will be available via MTV's Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/MTV.

Mrs. Obama's college access work now lives at Civic Nation, a non-profit focused on innovative engagement and awareness initiatives. The organization now includes members of Mrs. Obama's Reach Higher and Better Make Room teams. This is the second consecutive year that MTV will host the event in conjunction with Viacom's Get Schooled initiative.
