CHAD (TBS) - Jake Ryan (Eighth Grade) is set to star opposite Nasim Pedrad in the comedy pilot as Peter, "Chad's (Pedrad) best friend, a sweet nerd who has nothing to prove and is unbothered that puberty is destroying him. Peter has no particular angst about attending his first day at high school. He is content with not being popular and is ready to have a great time, unlike the neurotic Chad." (Deadline.com)
EVIL (CBS) - Mike Colter is set to star alongside Katja Herbers in the drama pilot, about Kristen Benoist (Herbers), "a skeptical female clinical psychologist who joins David Dacosta (Colter), a Catholic priest-in-training, and a blue-collar contractor as they investigate supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and other extraordinary occurrences to see if there's a scientific explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work." (Deadline.com)

Additionally, Julie Anne Robinson is confirmed as directing from a script by Bridget Kyle and Vicky Luu. (Deadline.com)
LONER (HBO, New!) - Teddy Wayne is looking to bring his novel to the small screen at the pay channel. He'll pen the pilot and co-executive produce the project, about David Federman, who "has never felt appreciated. An academically gifted yet painfully forgettable member of his New Jersey high school class, the withdrawn, mild-mannered freshman arrives at Harvard fully expecting to be embraced by a new tribe of high-achieving peers. Initially, however, his social prospects seem unlikely to change, sentencing him to a lifetime of anonymity. Then he meets Veronica Morgan Wells. Struck by her beauty, wit, and sophisticated Manhattan upbringing, David becomes instantly infatuated. Determined to win her attention and an invite into her glamorous world, he begins compromising his moral standards for this one, great shot at happiness. But both Veronica and David, it turns out, are not exactly as they seem." (Deadline.com)
MR. MERCEDES (Audience) - Gabriel Ebert, Rarmian Newton and Glynn Turman have all landed roles on the upcoming third season. Ebert will play Morris Bellamy, "intelligent, well-educated if not middle class, a volatile and charismatic wolf in sheep's clothing"; with Newton as Peter Saubers, "16, smart and personable, he's a junior in high school and on the college track"; and Turman recurring as Judge Bernard Raines, "the no-nonsense judge presiding over Lou Linklatter's murder trial, he suffers no fools and takes no prisoners." (Deadline.com)
NIGHTFLYERS (Syfy) - The cable channel has passed on a second season for the drama, which was based on the novella by George R.R. Martin. The show's de facto finale on December 13 drew just 623,000 viewers (169,000 adults 18-49) in Live+3, down from its launch on December 2 of 959,000 viewers (314,000 adults 18-49) in Live+3. (Deadline.com)
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK (Netflix) - Alicia Witt will recur on the show's final season as Zelda, "a professional fundraiser for various high-end non-profit organizations. TERROR, THE (AMC) - C. Thomas Howell has scored a recurring role on the anthology's second season as Retired Major Hallowell Bowen, "an official with the War Relocation Authority whose presence looms over the Japanese-American characters in the story." (Deadline.com)
UNDER THE BRIDGE (CBS) - David Ajala is the first to board the drama pilot, about when a scandal rocks the medical practice she runs with her husband and their friends, a surgeon rises to the occasion and takes the lead in trying to mend both the practice and her own marriage. He's set as Dan, "a gorgeous, dry and somewhat broken man who works hard for everything, except sex. That comes easily. Back in the day, he hoped that Kate would wind up with him, but she married his best friend, Michael, instead. When Dan votes to separate Michael from their medical practice, Michael considers it a personal betrayal. Only Dan knows the real reason: that in order to protect his best friend, he must be willing to sacrifice their relationship." (Deadline.com)
