LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
BH90210 (FOX) - Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith and several senior writers have quit the six-episode series for unspecified reasons. Paul Sciarrotta has been named the new showrunner, where he'll serve alongside co-creators Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler. (Variety.com)
GET SHORTY (Epix) - Isaac Keys's Ed - Amara's (Lidia Porto) bodyguard and a top lieutenant in her gang - has been promoted to regular for the show's third season. Additionally, Michaela Watkins and Seychelle Gabriel will recur in unspecified roles. (Deadline.com)
GLAMOROUS (The CW) - The Ben J. Pierce-led drama pilot remains under consideration despite not making the cut in time for the network's upfront presentation. "We are still looking at 'Glamorous,'" The CW President Mark Pedowitz told reporters. "It is very, very funny. We will take a harder look at it when we go back to Los Angeles." He later added, "We believe Ben J. Pierce is a star. It needs some retooling so we can try to move forward with it." (Deadline.com)
MIXED-ISH (ABC) - Karin Gist has been tapped to run the recently ordered comedy series as part of her overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television. She'll serve as an executive producer alongside Peter Saji, Kenya Barris, Tracee Ellis Ross, Randall Winston, Brian Dobbins, Laurence Fishburne, Helen Sugland and Anthony Anderson. (Deadline.com)
NANCY DREW (The CW) - Riley Smith has joined the cast of the newcomer as "the handsome and affluent Ryan Hudson whose trophy wife is the murder victim. While he has been ruled out as a suspect by the police, Nancy's not so sure." Said role was in second position to "Proven Innocent," whose cancellation will allow him to continue as a regular. (Deadline.com)
ONE DAY AT A TIME (Netflix) - Producer Sony Pictures Television is continuing its search for a new home for the series with Pop TV among the latest targets. Said report further indicates "because of the cost of the series, designed for a premium platform, Pop TV by itself can't afford it, and CBS Corp. has been working on putting together a multi-network plan for 'ODAAT,' which I hear does not include CBS Corp.'s flagship CBS broadcast net." (Deadline.com)
PANIC (Amazon) - The drama pilot - about a forgotten rural town where every year the graduating seniors risk their lives in an illegal, high-stakes game to win life-changing money-and a chance to escape - has been ordered to series by the streaming service. The project is based on writer Lauren Oliver's book of the same name. In addition, Amazon has passed on fellow young adult entry "College" while "The Wilds" is still in contention. (Deadline.com)
TICK, THE (Amazon) - Executive producer Ben Edlund took to social media to reveal the series has been canceled after two seasons. Producer Sony Pictures Television plans to shop the project elsewhere. (@ben_edlund)
