BACHELOR IN PARADISE (ABC) - "We are hell-bent on figuring out how we make 'Paradise' work," Rob Mills, senior vice president, alternative series, specials and late-night programming, ABC Entertainment, told the publication. "Unless something horrendous happens, I feel very confident that 'Paradise' is coming back on this summer - how and where it's going to be, it's still too early to tell." (Variety.com)
CHICAGO MED (NBC) - Steven Weber will recur on the current season of the medical drama as Dean Archer, "a wry, blunt, talented physician who has just relocated from a rural hospital to Chicago Med. A former Naval officer who oversaw Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) during active duty, he's now struggling to be second-in-command at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center's Emergency Department." (Deadline.com)
FIRST GEN (Disney+, New!) - Comedian Yvonne Orji is developing a half-hour comedy at the streamer based on "her personal experiences growing up as a Nigerian immigrant in America. As a child, she's caught between trying to honor her parents and culture while simultaneously trying to assimilate to American life." The project is set at 20th Television with Yoruba Saxon Productions' David Oyelowo and Harpo Productions' Oprah Winfrey and Carla Gardini also on board to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
FLASH, THE (The CW) - Jon Cor has been cast as Mark Stevens aka Chillblaine on the series: "Scientist Mark Stevens is a charismatic bad boy obsessed with cryogenic technology. But when he's not breaking into corporate safes, he's busy breaking hearts with his irresistible charm and roguish style. Armed with his own cold weapons, he'll become a new thorn in the side of Team Flash as the DC Comics villain Chillblaine." (TVLine.com)
FOR LIFE (ABC) - Co-star Joy Bryant and writer/producer Samantha Taylor Pickett have launched a production company, Hot Sauce, signing a three-year first-look deal with producer Sony Pictures Television. (Deadline.com)
FUTURE, THE (HBO Max, New!) - Dan Frey is developing a new drama at the streamer based on his forthcoming novel "The Future Is Yours," billed as "the story of two best friends who invent the most revolutionary technological device in modern human history." Aneesh Chaganty is on board to direct and executive produce alongside Natalie Qasabian and Sev Ohanian as well as 6th & Idaho's Matt Reeves, Adam Kassan and Daniel Pipski for Warner Bros. Television. GILDED AGE, THE/ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING (HBO/Hulu) - Nathan Lane has booked recurring roles on both series. In the former, he'll play Ward McAllister, "a famous historical figure of the Gilded Age chiefly remembered as the inventor of the phrase, 'the four hundred.'" And on the latter he's set as "a building resident and owner of a popular New York City grocery chain." (Deadline.com)
MOON KNIGHT (Disney+) - May Calamawy has booked a yet-to-be-revealed role on the Oscar Isaac-led Marvel Studios series. (THR.com)
OFFENDERS, THE (Amazon) - The streamer has signed up for a second season of the Stephen Merchant series in advance of its premiere. Said decision was made to allow both seasons (six episodes each) to film back to back. (Deadline.com)
PACK, THE (Amazon) - The canine competition series will not return for a second season. (Deadline.com)
SEXY BEASTS (Netflix, New!) - The streaming service has commissioned a new 12-episode incarnation of the high-concept dating show, in which "singletons are disguised in Hollywood-grade prosthetics before they go dating." BBC Three originated the series in 2014 with A&E serving up a short-lived U.S. take in 2015. Lion Television will once again produce. (Deadline.com)
SHAMELESS (Showtime) - Sam Morgan is bound for the show's final season as "one of the new yuppie owners of Born Free." (Deadline.com)
WOMEN OF THE MOVEMENT (ABC) - Tina Mabry (second and third episodes), Julie Dash (fourth and fifth) and Kasi Lemmons (sixth) will join Gina Prince-Bythewood (first) as directors on the six-part limited series, which started production this week in Mississippi. (Deadline.com)
