ALOHA MOTHERF**KER (HBO Max, New!) - Cris Cole is penning a potential drama at the streamer based on Jason Ryan's best-selling novel "Hell-Bent," in which "when cops fail to find her son's killers, Renee, a divorced mom in her 40s, heads to Hawaii to start her own investigation. Here she uncovers rampant disorganized crime and systemic corruption within the police and legal system, before inadvertently finding a new place for herself in the world. The cat-and mouse-thriller is set in 1970s Hawaii, a dream vacation spot but also one of the most brutally violent places in America riddled by mob-style executions, drug smuggling and gang warfare." Seoul Street's Will Yun Lee and Mark and Christine Holder are also slated to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
CANDY (Hulu) - Melanie Lynskey will star opposite Jessica Biel in the limited series as Betty Gore, "a teacher, a wife and a mother who just wanted to be a part of her small Texas community. But that all ended on Friday the 13th, June 1980, when she was killed with an ax in her own laundry room by her friend, Candy (Biel)." (Deadline.com)
MISFIT CITY (HBO Max, New!) - At the streamer, Hannah Hafey and Kaitlin Smith are spearheading a small screen take on the BOOM! Studios graphic novel series from Kiwi Smith, Kurt Lustgarten and Naomi Franquiz which "follows Wilder, a teenage girl smothered by her backwater hometown, but when Wilder and her friends discovers a centuries-old pirate map, she may find out that real adventure was in their tiny town all along." Said group will executive produce alongside Stephen Christy, Ross Richie and Mark Ambrose with Mette Norkjaer co-executive producing. (Deadline.com)
WENDY WILLIAMS SHOW, THE (Syndication) - The series will kick off its 13th season on October 18 with a series of guest hosts as Williams "is experiencing serious complications as a direct result of Graves' disease and her thyroid condition." (@wendyshow)
