9-1-1 (FOX) - Original cast member Rockmond Dunbar has exited the series over new COVID-19 protocols on the show. "I applied for religious and medical accommodations pursuant to the law and unfortunately was denied by my employer," the actor said in a statement. "My sincerely held beliefs and private medical history are very intimate and personal aspects of my life that I do not publicly discuss and have no desire to start now. I've been an actor in this business for 30 years, but my greatest roles are as a husband and father to our 4 small children. As a man that walks in faith, I look forward to what the future holds." FLEISHMAN IS IN TROUBLE (FX on Hulu) - Lizzy Caplan is the first to be cast in the Taffy Brodesser-Akner adaptation as Libby, the series' narrator. (Deadline.com)
MINX (HBO Max) - The upcoming 1970s series has cast Alicia Hannah-Kim as Wendy Mah, "a best-selling feminist author"; Amy Landecker as Bridget Westbury, "the San Fernando Valley's newest and most conservative Councilwoman"; Gillian Jacobs as Maggie, "a friend from Joyce's New York days"; Austin Nichols as Billy "The Goat" Brunson, "a hotshot quarterback with a bad boy reputation"; Rich Sommer as Lenny, "Joyce's brother-in-law"; Hope Davis as Victoria Hartnett, "a prominent academic feminist"; and Stephen Tobolowsky as Conrad Ross, "the president of Joyce's tennis club." ONE PIECE/PARTNER TRACK/SHADECRAFT (Netflix) - Showrunners Matt Owens, Georgia Lee and Joe Henderson have signed a first-look deal with the streamer as part of a new production company Magic Quill Productions, "focused on genre stories with emotion whose goal is to empower underrepresented and diverse voices while also training the showrunners of the future." RHONA WHO LIVES BY THE RIVER (Disney+, New!) - Emily Kapnek is developing an animated series at the streamer which "follows the adventures of Rhona #3, the third-most-interesting Rhona in a small Scottish town, whose life is utterly dull. But after a freak clootie well accident results in bacterial pinkeye and the ability to make her own wishes come true, Rhona's star finally is on the rise." Karen Gillan is attached to voice the titular character while Danny Elfman will create and oversee music on the project for 20th Television Animation and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. WATCHER, THE (Netflix) - Jennifer Coolidge is set to star opposite Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts in the yet-to-be-announced limited series. No details about her character were given. (Deadline.com)
