"The Detour with David Chang" Premieres Sunday, September 20 at 9pm ET/PT

NEW YORK, NY - (August 12, 2026) - CNN Original Series The Detour with David Chang will premiere on Sunday, September 20 at 9pm ET/PT on CNN. Produced by Majordomo Media and Tremolo Productions, the six-episode series follows the acclaimed chef, restaurateur and author in his pursuit of no-frills but unforgettable eats on the open road. The series will air two episodes weekly on Sundays at 9pm at 10pm ET/PT on CNN. Episodes will be available to stream the next day on the CNN app and at CNN.com/watch.

"For me, this show is about getting out and experiencing the world for yourself rather than letting other people tell you what's good," Chang says. "I've been as guilty as anyone of looking at my phone too much, and I missed the feeling of discovery - of walking into a place you know nothing about and taking a chance. In the age of influencers, algorithms and listicles, Chang cuts through the noise on a classic American road trip following local leads and friends' recommendations to his next meal. Each episode represents a different leg of Chang's journey, pairing him with a new travel companion and a new culinary adventure.

This season, Chang discovers why Las Vegas may be America's most exciting food city with Oscar(R) winning filmmaker Cord Jefferson; explores the multicultural flavors of South Florida with comedian Eric André; tracks a new generation of Texas barbecue alongside comedian and actress Cristela Alonzo; revisits Pennsylvania's food traditions with actress Gillian Jacobs; makes a pilgrimage across Tennessee with chef and owner of Milk Bar Christina Tosi to the legendary Benton's smokehouse; and explores Sonoma's wineries, oyster farms and artisan producers with his creative partner Chris Ying.
