In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, ABC posted its best Tuesday in 5 weeks since season premiere Tuesday on 9/25/07.

"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

ABC's special annual telecast of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" won its time period among Adults 18-49, besting second-place CBS' "NCIS" by 15% in the hour (3.8/11 vs. 3.3/9). The animated Halloween special also held the No. 1 position in the hour among Women 18-49 (4.7/13), Women 18-34 (3.5/10-tie), Teens 12-17 (2.5/9) and Kids 2-11 (6.1/21). The Peanuts holiday classic first aired 41 years ago on October 27, 1966. In fact the show delivered the highest-rated telecast with Kids 2-11 for any program on the broadcast networks so far this season.

"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" was up over its performance last year at this time (Friday, 10/27/06) by 3.6 million viewers (11.4 million vs. 7.8 million) and by 46% among Adults 18-49 (3.8/11 vs. 2.6/9). It was the largest audience for the Peanuts Halloween special in 4 years since 10/28/03.

"Dancing with the Stars the Results Show" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

For the first time this season, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars the Results Show" outdrew "House," topping the Fox drama by 1.4 million viewers to win the 9 o'clock hour (18.6 million vs. 17.2 million) and emerge as Tuesday's most-watched TV show. The ABC dancing results show delivered a solid second in the hour in Adults 18-49 (4.2/10) to Fox, beating out third-place NBC's "Biggest Loser" by 40% (3.0/7) and fourth-place CBS' "The Unit" by 50% (2.8/7). Actress and recording artist Sabrina Bryan was the sixth celebrity to be eliminated from the competition this season.

ABC's "DWTS the Results Show" increased its overall audience for the fourth straight week, achieving season high with Total Viewers (18.6 million), Teens 12-17 (2.1/7) and Kids 2-11 (3.1/13).

"Boston Legal" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC's "Boston Legal" stood as the most-watched show in the 10 o'clock hour, outdistancing its nearest competitor by 3.1 million viewers (11.8 million vs. 8.7 million "L&O: SVU"). The ABC legal drama also ranked No. 1 in the time period among Adults 25-54 (4.2/10) and Adults 18-49 (3.1/8). "Boston Legal" beat CBS' third-place "Cane" by a best-ever 3.7 million viewers and by 55% in Adults 18-49 ("Cane" = 8.1 million and 2.0/5).

"Boston Legal" delivered the series' biggest audience on the night in more than 1 year 9/19/06.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has more than doubled from approximately 9% at this time last year up to more than 20% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
