Quick Take for Wednesday, November 14, 2007 (Fast Affiliate Live + Same Day Ratings)

ABC Finishes in a Virtual Tie for First Place on Wednesday in Adults 18-49, Ranking No. 1 for the 7th Time in 8 Weeks in Adults 18-34 and 8th Straight in Key Women

"Pushing Daisies" Dominates the 8 O'clock Hour in Viewers and Adults 18-49, Qualifying as the Top Series in its Slot with Key Adults on All 6 of its Telecasts

Growing from its Most Recent Airing in Viewers and Adults 18-49, ABC's "Private Practice" is Wednesday's No. 1 TV Series in Adults 18-34 for its 7th Straight Telecast

Taking Second in its Time Slot to CBS' Veteran "C.S.I.: NY," ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" Tops NBC's Competing 10pm Freshman Drama, "Life," by Wide Margins

Wednesday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC finished in a virtual tie for first place with CBS on Wednesday among Adults 18-49 (3.4/9 vs. 3.5/9). The Net ranked No. 1 on Wednesday in Adults 18-34 (3.1/9) for the 7th time in 8 weeks, and for the 8th straight week across the key women demographics: W18-34 (4.5/12), W18-49 (4.6/11) and W25-54 (5.2/12-tie).

"Pushing Daisies" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

"Pushing Daisies" won the 8 o'clock hour, beating out its nearest competitors by 1.4 million viewers (8.9 million vs. 7.5 million CBS' "Kid Nation") and by 19% in Adults 18-49 (3.1/9 vs. 2.6/7 Fox and CW tied). In fact ABC's "Daisies" has been the No. 1 television series in the 8 o'clock hour on all 6 of the series' telecasts across each of the adult demographics (AD18-34/AD18-49/AD25-54).

"Pushing Daisies" grew from its most recent telecast by 3% in Total Viewers and by 15% Adults 18-49 (8.6 million & 2.7/8 on 10/31/07).

"Private Practice" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Jumping from its lead-in, ABC's "Private Practice" took second in the 9 o'clock hour to a high-rated installment of "Criminal Minds" among Total Viewers (11.4 million), and nearly tied the CBS drama for first place in the slot among Adults 18-49 (4.2/10 vs. 4.3/11). "Private Practice" defeated its competing freshman drama competition on NBC, "Bionic Woman," by 5.1 million viewers and by 68% in Adults 18-49 ("Bionic Woman" hit series lows - 6.3 million & 2.5/6). Wednesday's No. 1 TV program with Adults 18-34 for its 7th straight telecast (on each of the series' airings), "Private Practice" outdelivered its closest competition in the time period by 26% (3.9/10 vs. 3.1/8 Fox).

"Private Practice" was up from its most recent telecast two weeks ago in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 (11.3 million & 3.8/10 on 10/31/07).

"Dirty Sexy Money" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Taking second to CBS' veteran "C.S.I.: NY," ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" defeated its freshman drama competition during the 10 o'clock hour, NBC's "Life," by 1.2 million viewers (8.1 million vs. 6.9 million) and by 16% in Adults 18-49 (2.9/8 vs. 2.5/7). The new ABC series ranked No. 1 in its time period in Adults 18-34 (2.6/7) and Women 18-34 (3.6/10).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has more than doubled from nearly 10% at this time last year up to 21% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
