Quick Take for Tuesday, March 25, 2008 (Fast Affiliate Live + Same Day Ratings)

ABC Earns Second to Fox on Tuesday in Viewers and Young Adults, Up Over the Year-Ago Night by 1.7 Million Viewers and 7% in Adults 18-49

Opposite "Idol," ABC's "DWTS Recap" Marks the Net's Biggest Non-Sports Audience In the 8pm Hour Since November and its Top Adult 18-49 Number Since December

Taking Second to an "Idol"-Fueled Fox in the 9pm Hour, ABC's "DWTS" Results Jumps Ahead of Fox from 9:30-10pm by 8.6 Million Viewers

Opener of "DWTS" Results Tallies ABC's Best Time Slot Results Since November

Hitting Series-Highs in Viewers and Across the Key Adult Demos, ABC News' "Primetime: What Would You Do?' Wins the 10 O'clock Hour

Tuesday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC earned second place to Fox on Tuesday in Total Viewers (12.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.0/8). The Net was up by 1.7 million viewers and by 7% in Adults 18-49 from the same night last year (11.0 million and 2.8/8 on 3/27/07).

Increasing its delivery week to week, ABC garnered its most-watched Tuesday in nearly 4 months since 11/27/07.

"Dancing with the Stars Recap" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

ABC's "Dancing with the Stars Recap" (10.4 million) was the second-most-watched TV show during the 8 o'clock hour, trailing only Fox's "American Idol."

The dancing recap generated ABC's largest non-sports audience (10.4 million) in the hour since November and its top Adult 18-49 number (2.1/5) since December since 11/27/07 and 12/18/07, respectively.

"Dancing with the Stars the Results Show" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

The season premiere of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars the Results Show" placed second to an "Idol"-boosted Fox during the 9 o'clock hour in Total Viewers (17.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.8/9), defeating the second hour of NBC's 2-hour "Biggest Loser" on both counts (8.8 million and 3.5/9). Surging by 4.4 million viewers (15.0 million to 19.4 million) and by 42% in Adults 18-49 (3.1/7 to 4.4/11) from its first half-hour to its second half-hour, ABC's "DWTS" Results moved up to a definitive No. 1 at 9:30pm in Total Viewers, outdrawing Fox's "Idol"-fueled episode of "'Til Death" by 8.6 million viewers in the half-hour (19.4 million vs. 10.8 million). The ABC dance contest qualified as Tuesday's No. 2 TV program (behind only "Idol") in Total Viewers. In the show's first-ever double elimination, magician Penn Jillette and Grand Slam tennis champion Monica Seles were eliminated from the competition.

"DWTS the Results Show" delivered ABC's biggest audience and highest Adult 18-49 rating in the time slot since November since 11/27/07.

"Primetime: What Would You Do?" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC News' "Primetime: What Would You Do?" ranked a strong No. 1 during the 10 o'clock hour, leading its nearest competition (NBC) by 1.9 million viewers (10.4 million vs. 8.5 million) and by 23% in Adults 18-49 (3.2/9 vs. 2.6/7).

"Primetime: What Would You Do?" delivered series-high results in Total Viewers and across each of the key adult demos (AD18-34/AD18-49/AD25-54).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has nearly doubled from over 13% at the same point in 2006, up to more than 23% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
