SNF Defeats Baseball Playoffs by 200%

Philadelphia Leads All Markets With 24.1 Rating

NEW YORK - October 11, 2010 - Last night's "Sunday Night Football" game was the No. 1 program on Sunday night for the fifth consecutive week as it registered an overnight rating up eight percent vs. last year's Week 5 game and beat baseball's playoff game by 200 percent, according to overnight data released today by The Nielsen Company.

"Sunday Night Football," featuring the 27-24 win by the Philadelphia Eagles, who were without starting QB Mike Vick, over the winless San Francisco 49ers, earned an 11.7 overnight rating and 19 share (from 8:30-11:45 p.m. ET).

Last night's game was eight percent higher than last year's Week 5 SNF game (Indianapolis-Tennessee, 10.8/17).

The rating peaked at a 12.9/24 from 11:30-11:45 p.m. ET with the game still in doubt in its final moments.

SNF dominated a series-clinching baseball playoff game, won 2-0 by the Philadelphia Phillies over the Cincinnati Reds, on TBS (3.9) by 200 percent. It was the second-best NFL primetime overnight during the Divisional Playoffs in eight years, since a 12.1/18 for Green Bay-Chicago on 10/7/02 on ABC.

When the viewership is available tomorrow from Nielsen, "Sunday Night Football" is expected to be the most-watched Sunday night show for the fifth consecutive week. Last season, SNF was the most-watched Sunday night primetime broadcast in a record 15 of 16 (94 percent) weeks. In 2008, SNF won 13 of 16 (81 percent) Sunday nights after winning 11 of 16 in 2007 (69 percent) and nine of 16 in 2006 (56 percent).
