CBS Wins the Night in Viewers

THE BIG BANG THEORY was Thursday's #1 program for the fourth straight week, PERSON OF INTEREST posted week-to-week increases and THE MENTALIST won its time period in key measures, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Oct. 13.

At 8:00 PM, THE BIG BANG THEORY was first in households (8.2/14), viewers (13.26m), adults 25-54 (5.5/15) and adults 18-49 (4.4/14). THE BIG BANG THEORY was the night's top broadcast in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 for the fourth consecutive week.

An 8:30 PM rebroadcast of THE BIG BANG THEORY (R) (S) was first in households (7.3/12), viewers (11.99m), adults 25-54 (4.7/12) and adults 18-49 (3.7/10), beating a first run episodes of "The X Factor," "Charlie's Angels" and "Parks and Recreation."

At 9:00 PM, PERSON OF INTEREST was first in households (7.4/11) and viewers (11.86m) while averaging a 3.8/09 in adults 25-54 and 2.7/07 in adults 18-49. Compared to last week, PERSON OF INTEREST was up +4% in both households (from 7.1/11) and adults 18-49 (from 2.6/06), +3% in adults 25-54 (from 3.7/08) and added +290,000 viewers (from 11.57m, +3%).

At 10:00 PM, THE MENTALIST was first in households (7.7/13), viewers (12.25m), adults 25-54 (3.5/08) and adults 18-49 (2.5/07). THE MENTALIST won its time slot every week this season in viewers, three of four in adults 25-54 and two straight in adults 18-49.

For the night, CBS was first in households (7.6/12), viewers (12.24m), second in adults 25-54 (4.1/10) and adults 18-49 (3.1/08).

Updated Thursday ratings will be available this afternoon.

Note: DVR penetration is at 42%, up from 38% last year. Last fall, Live+7 audiences for original entertainment series on CBS gained over 1.8 million viewers, on average, over Live+ Same Day ratings, more than any other network. This season, we expect DVR penetration to continue to increase and, as a result, we expect DVR playback audiences to grow as well.
