UNIVERSAL HD AUGUST HIGHLIGHTS

UNIVERSAL HD PLAYS HARD IN AUGUST WITH TENNIS, EXTREME SPORTS AND THE DEW ACTION SPORS TOUR

BURBANK, Calif. � July 10, 2006 � Universal HD is bringing viewers all of the best sports in high-definition this August, including The 2006 US Tennis Open live coverage beginning on August 28th at 11:00am (ET). Primetime coverage begins at 7:00pm (ET) each night through September 10th and will be repeated at 7:00am (ET) the following day.

Viewers can watch athletes push themselves to the edge with Universal HD's Extreme Sports Weekend beginning Friday, August 25th. A full weekend of extreme sports leads into The 2006 U.S. Open. The action starts on Friday night with the Universal HD premiere of the newest chapter of the 2006 Jeep World of Adventure Sports HD. The fun continues Saturday and Sunday with two stops on the 2006 Dew Action Sports Tour and previous episodes of 2006 Jeep World of Adventure Sports HD.

Summer isn't just for sports fans. Fans of Robert De Niro can celebrate the Academy Award-winning actor's birthday on Thursday, August 17th with two of his films. The party kicks off with Casino at 9pm (ET), also starring Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci, followed by the Oscar-winning film The Deer Hunter at 12am (ET), which also stars Meryl Streep.

"There's nothing like being able to settle in with your favorite sports and movies on a hot summer day," said Dan Harrison, Senior Vice President Emerging Networks, NBC Universal Cable Entertainment. "We are in the enviable position to be able to deliver this all in crystal-clear high definition on Universal HD."

Audiences will be on seat's edge with the third stop of The 2006 Dew Action Sports Tour. The Vans Invitational broadcasts live from Portland, Oregon on Friday and Saturday, August 18th and 19th at 12:00am (ET).

Universal HD is offering viewers a break from the dog days of summer on Sunday, August 5th. They can join their favorite canines for a day full of mayhem and laughs featuring Beethoven's 2nd, Beethoven's 4th, and Beethoven's 5th, along with K-9: P.I., The Incredible Dog Challenge, and a special episode of Complete Savages.
