USA Network Acquires Rights from Buena Vista Television to #1 Movie in America, Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest"

USA NETWORK ACQUIRES RIGHTS FROM BUENA VISTA TELEVISION TO #1 MOVIE IN AMERICA, DISNEY'S "PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST"

LOS ANGELES, CA � July 13, 2006 � USA Network has acquired the cable television rights from Buena Vista Television to the record-breaking #1 movie in America, Disney's PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST. Taking in more than $135 million in its opening weekend, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST shattered the record for the biggest three-day weekend ever beating the previous record-holder "Spider-Man" by almost $21 million. The announcement was made today by Jane Blaney, USA's senior vice president, programming.

Under the agreement, USA has the network window premiere beginning in the Fall of 2008. In addition, USA will build on the pirate fever currently sweeping the nation with the basic cable premiere of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL this Saturday, July 15 at 8:00pm ET/PT.

"We are thrilled about this acquisition, especially since we already own the rights to the original! USA is a prime destination for major blockbuster theatricals on television and no film fits our brand better than 'Pirates,'" said Blaney. "Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow is one of America's most beloved characters and definitely the world's most unique pirate. What better home for 'Pirates' than USA, where characters are always welcome!"

Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley reunite in Walt Disney Pictures' in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Films, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST, an all-new epic tale chronicling the further misadventures of Captain Jack Sparrow. This movie, directed by Gore Verbinski, is currently at the top of the box office breaking more records than any other movie in recent history including biggest three day opening weekend in history, biggest single-day haul, biggest opening day ever ($55.5 million on Friday) and the first film to rake in $100 million in two days.
