Barbados-born songstress Rihanna is set to perform her No. 1 hit single "S.O.S." live on TEEN CHOICE 2006 Sunday, Aug. 20 (8:00-10:00 PM ET Live/PT Tape-Delayed) on FOX. Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook will co-host the eighth annual special, where the coolest stars will receive coveted Teen Choice Surfboard awards. TEEN CHOICE 2006 will offer an advance look at the glitz and glamour before the event during a red carpet special Sunday, Aug. 20 (7:30-8:00 PM ET Live/PT Tape-Delayed).

Rihanna's "A Girl Like Me," which recently hit platinum status, is the follow-up to her gold debut album of last year, "Music of the Sun." That album featured her No. 1 dance hit "Pon De Replay," a traffic-stopper in the U.S. and Europe that was certified a triple-platinum digital download by the RIAA. With its infectious sample of "Tainted Love" (the Soft Cell classic), "S.O.S." became Rihanna's second worldwide phenomenon, and the single hit No. 1 on numerous international charts, including Canada and Japan. At TEEN CHOICE 2006, Rihanna could walk away with five Surfboards for Choice Female Artist, Choice R&B Artist, Choice Hottie, Choice Breakout and Choice Music Single for "S.O.S."

Additional celebrities scheduled to appear at TEEN CHOICE 2006 include TV personality Paula Abdul (AMERICAN IDOL); actors Jensen Ackles ("Supernatural"), Wentworth Miller (PRISON BREAK), Amaury Nolasco (PRISON BREAK), Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns") and Tom Welling ("Smallville"); actresses Jessica Alba ("Fantastic Four"), Kristen Bell ("Veronica Mars"), Rachel Bilson (THE O.C.), Sophia Bush ("One Tree Hill"), Jaime Pressly ("My Name is Earl") and Kristin Cavallari ("Laguna Beach"); teen queen Hilary Duff ("The Perfect Man"); the cast of "High School Musical"; rapper Snoop Dogg; singer Nick Lachey; and actor Wilmer Valderrama ("That '70s Show").

As previously announced, Nelly Furtado and Timbaland are set to perform their hit "Promiscuous" and Kevin Federline will close the show, performing his single "Lose Control" live for the first time on network television. Other performers and presenters will be announced soon.

This year the coolest stars will receive coveted Surfboard awards in categories such as Choice Breakout TV Show, Choice Sleazebag, Choice Hissy Fit, Choice Rumble, Choice TV Actress, Choice Rock Track, Choice Grill, Choice Athlete and Choice TV Sidekick. Nominees have been posted online for the Wave Three categories, which include Choice Summer Movie: Drama/Action-Adventure, Choice Summer Movie: Comedy, Choice Summer Song, Choice Summer TV Series and Choice V Cast Music Artist. From now until Thursday, Aug. 11, voters can log on to Teenpeople.com, MySpace.com, IGN.com and FOX.com to cast their ballots for the hottest celebrities in film, television, music, sports and fashion.

TEEN CHOICE 2006 is executive-produced by Bob Bain ("Kids Choice Awards") and Mike Burg. Paul Flattery serves as producer. Greg Sills serves as supervising producer.
