HANK (ABC) - Sasha Pieterse has joined the cast of the Kelsey Grammer-led comedy. She'll play his daughter, Maddie, on the newcomer which kicks off the network's Wednesday lineup this fall. Macey Cruthird originated the role in the pilot. No specific reason was given for the recasting.
UGLY BETTY (ABC) - TV Guide Channel's purchase of the show's off-network rights is reportedly valued in the $200,000 per episode range. The pact kicks off this fall with a weekly repurposing of "Betty's" upcoming fourth season. The run will then expand to five nights a week in the fall of 2010 with TVGuide.com being able to carry up to five episodes at any given time.
UNTITLED DAVID ZABEL PROJECT (NBC, New!) - The Peacock has issued a put pilot order to the former "ER" showrunner for a new series described as "a legal drama with a big family component." The project is set up at Sony Pictures Television, where Zabel has a blind two-script deal. As for specifics, it's understood the untitled hour will be set in New York and "reflect challenges for lawyers there who have been affected by shake-ups in the financial system."
YOU DON'T KNOW JACK (HBO) - Danny Huston has booked a role on Barry Levinson's biopic of Jack Kevorkian. He'll play Geoffrey Fieger, Kevorkian's (Al Pacino) longtime attorney. He'll join the previously cast Susan Sarandon and John Goodman.
