THE GOOD SHEPHERD (Showtime, New!) - Robert De Niro's 2006 feature - about tumultuous early history of the CIA - is being developed as a drama series at the pay channel. Eric Roth, the film's screenwriter, is on board to pen the small screen take with De Niro likewise set to direct. CBS Television Studios is behind the hour, with Jane Rosenthal of Tribeca Productions also executive producing alongside the duo and Berry Welsh serving as a producer. (Deadline.com)
NEXT CALLER (NBC) - Desmin Borges has joined the cast of the midseason comedy, about a mismatched duo - Cam (Dane Cook) and Stella (Collette Wolfe) - who host a relationship call-in show in New York City. He'll play Cam's socially awkward confidant in the Lionsgate Television-based half-hour, which also stars Jeffrey Tambor, Joy Osmanski and Wole Parks. Stephen Falk penned the pilot, which was directed by Marc Buckland. (TVLine.com)
UNTITLED DIANA SON PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Diana Son ("NYC 22") has sold a potential drama to the Eye about "the chief trauma surgeon at a respected Manhattan hospital who suddenly becomes a single mother when she loses her stay-at-home husband to a fatal accident" and opts to take "over her father-in-law's venerable Brooklyn brownstone-based family medical practice." CBS Television Studios-based Tribeca Productions is behind the hour with the company's Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED KEVIN BIEGEL PROJECT (FOX, New!) - "Cougar Town" co-creator Kevin Biegel has sold a potential comedy at the network based on his relationship "with his siblings and follows three very different brothers working together in the Army at a small base in Florida." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the single-camera project, which has a penalty attached. Biegel will write and executive produce. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MIKE WOLFE PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Writer Tom Brady and director Fred Savage are developing a multi-camera comedy at the Eye based on the experiences of "American Pickers" star Mike Wolfe. CBS Television Studios-based The Tannenbaum Co. is behind the half-hour, which is billed as a "workplace comedy set in an antiques and collectibles shop." Wolfe, Brady, Eric and Kim Tannenbaum are executive producing. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED S. CRAIG ZAHLER PROJECT (FX, New!) - Feature writer S. Craig Zahler ("Asylum Blackout") is developing a new drama at the pay channel set in the underworld of New York's modern day Chinatown, about "rival gangsters who must rely upon traditional fighting techniques to maintain their territories after the triad bosses ban all firearms in the area following a bloody shootout." No other auspices or studio were given. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED J.H. WYMAN PROJECT (FOX, New!) - J.H. Wyman ("Fringe") has snagged a pilot production commitment from the network for a new drama "set in the near future, when all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids." Said hour is set up at the Warner Bros. Television-based Bad Robot Productions with J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk executive producing alongside Wyman. Kathy Lingg is also attached as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
