LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- HBO is giving a swan song to its New Orleans drama "Treme."
Co-creators David Simon and Eric Overmyer made the announcement at a screening of the show's third season premiere earlier today, news of which was first reported by the Times-Picayune.
"We are going to be back for a season 3.5," Simon said. "HBO, upon viewing the 10 that we gave them and what we've done, they want to see the end of the story. They fought very hard to give us half a loaf. We're going to take it and run."
The exact number of episodes remains yet to be determined.
"Treme" returns tomorrow night at 10:00/9:00c on the pay channel. Season two averaged a modest 574,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating among adults 18-49.
