NICKMOM PICKS UP 13 EPISODES OF "INSTANT MOM," THE TV BLOCK'S FIRST ORIGINAL SCRIPTED COMEDY SERIES STARRING TIA MOWRY-HARDRICT

Production to Commence in Los Angeles this Spring with Series Premiere Later this Year

Los Angeles, Calif. - April 3, 2013 - NickMom has ordered 13 episodes of Instant Mom (working title), the primetime TV block's first original scripted comedy series, starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict, it was announced today by Bronwen O'Keefe, Senior Vice President, NickMom. The half-hour, multi-camera series is set to premiere later this year on NickMom and repeat on Nick at Nite.

Instant Mom follows young party girl Stephanie (Mowry-Hardrict) who trades in cosmos for carpools when she marries an older man, Charlie (Michael Boatman, Spin City), with three kids. Stephanie slowly grows into her role as a full-time stepmom while struggling to maintain some sense of her fun-loving, slightly irresponsible life. Sheryl Lee Ralph (Moesha) stars as Stephanie's mother Maggie and rounding out the cast are the three kids played by Sydney Park, Tylen Williams and Damarr Calhoun. The series is created by Warren Bell (Victorious, According to Jim) and Jessica Butler (In Plain Sight) and executive-produced by Howard Gould (The Jeff Foxworthy Show, Cybil) and Aaron Kaplan (Wendell & Vinnie, The Neighbors).

"Instant Mom is the perfect addition to our NickMom nighttime comedy block designed to let moms unwind from the day and laugh at the often hilarious experiences of parenthood," said O'Keefe. "This show has a fantastic cast and at the center is Tia bringing all her warmth and talent to this funny and relatable character."

Sophisticated, savvy and an all-around sweetheart, actress Tia Mowry-Hardrict has been in the public eye for over 17 years, gaining initial fame starring opposite her twin sister Tamera in the hit comedy Sister Sister from Paramount Television. On Sister Sister's successful six-year run, Tia won two NAACP Image Awards and three Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite Television Actress. After graduating from Pepperdine University, she made appearances in various projects, including starring with her sister once again in the Disney Channel's original movie Twitches in 2005 and again in Twitches Too, two years later. In 2006, Tia landed the role of "Melanie Barnett," medical student turned wife of pro-football player on The Game, which landed her two more NAACP Image Award nominations. Currently Tia is starring in [with her sister Tamera Mowry-Housley] and executive producing the STYLE network series Tia & Tamera, which set a record as the most watched series launch in the network's history. Season 3 returns summer 2013. Tia recently released her debut book Oh Baby!: Pregnancy Tales and Advice from One Hot Mama to Another, filmed & released a fitness DVD, and with her sister, is developing a product line called MILKY! set to be released later this spring. She is also set to appear in the upcoming Fox Searchlight Pictures film Baggage Claim, to be released fall 2013.
