MTV TO HONOR ACADEMY AWARD(R)- WINNING ACTOR JAMIE FOXX WITH "GENERATION AWARD" AT THE "2013 MTV MOVIE AWARDS" LIVE ON SUNDAY, APRIL 14 AT 9:00 PM ET/PT

Santa Monica, CA (April 11, 2013) - MTV today announced that Academy Award(R)-winning actor and Grammy(R) winning artist Jamie Foxx will receive the coveted "Generation Award" at the "2013 MTV Movie Awards," LIVE on Sunday, April 14 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT from the Sony Pictures Studios Lot in Culver City, CA.

One of Hollywood's most respected actors, Foxx has amassed an impressive resume of film work, including his performance as the legendary Ray Charles in the 2005 biopic "Ray" which earned him the honor of being one of only a few actors to win the quadruple award crown for Best Actor including a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award, BAFTA Award and the Academy Award(R). Foxx is nominated for four MTV Movie Awards for his performance in the critically acclaimed Quentin Tarantino directed film "Django Unchained," including "Best Male Performance," "Best Fight," "Best Kiss" and "Best WTF Moment." Foxx will appear next in "White House Down" opposite Channing Tatum and James Woods and is currently in production to star as the villain Electro in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."

"As a comedian, Academy award-winning actor and Grammy award-winning artist, Jamie Foxx is a triple threat superstar unlike any we've seen in a long time," said Stephen Friedman, President of MTV. "Jamie has captivated audiences for nearly two decades with a dizzying array of memorable performances, and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate him at this year's Movie Awards."

After spending time in the comedy circuit, Foxx joined Keenan Ivory Wayans, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans and Tommy Davidson in the landmark Fox sketch comedy series, "In Living Color," creating some of the show's funniest and most memorable moments. In 1996, he launched his own series, "The Jamie Foxx Show," which was one of the top-rated shows on the WB Network during its five-year run.

Foxx's big-screen break came in 1999 when Oliver Stone cast him as star quarterback Willie Beamen in "Any Given Sunday," with Al Pacino. Additional film credits include: Michael Mann's "Ali," opposite Will Smith, Michael Mann's "Miami Vice" opposite Colin Farrell, Sam Mendes' Gulf War drama "Jarhead," with Jake Gyllenhaal, "Stealth," "Bait," "Booty Call," "The Truth About Cats and Dogs," and "The Great White Hype."

The "MTV Generation Award" is the "MTV Movie Awards" highest honor, acknowledging an actor who can be counted on to engage the MTV audience with everything he does. Past recipients include Johnny Depp, Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Tom Cruise and Jim Carrey.

The "2013 MTV Movie Awards," airing on Sunday, April 14 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, will continue the official kick off to the Summer Blockbuster season with rising superstar and host Rebel Wilson set to go off and deliver the show's trademark irreverent celebration of the movies, actors and music that audiences love LIVE. In a musical mash-up first, the stars of the hit musical comedy, "Pitch Perfect," will open the show with a musical bang when Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Esther Dean, Adam DeVine, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Ben Platt, Brittany Snow and host Rebel Wilson re-unite as the dueling college a cappella groups, The Barden Bellas and Treblemakers, for one not-to-miss musical performance conceived and executed by the film's director, Jason Moore. The night's big moments and laughs will continue with MTV's Inaugural "Comedic Genius Award" recipient Will Ferrell, who is nominated for "Best On-Screen Duo" with Zach Galifianakis for "The Campaign," "Trailblazer Award" recipient Emma Watson who is nominated in three categories including "Best Female Performance," "Best Kiss" and "Best Musical Moment" for her role in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," along with special musical performances by Selena Gomez and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, Melissa McCarthy, Zac Efron, Kerry Washington, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Amanda Seyfried, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto and Kim Kardashian are confirmed to present. "Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth will be on-hand to introduce the two-and-a-half minute never-before-seen official teaser trailer for the long awaited second installment of Lionsgate's Hunger Games film franchise, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." Additional presenters will be announced at a later date.
