DISCOVERY FAMILY CHANNEL CELEBRATES VALENTINE'S DAY WITH A WEEKEND FILLED WITH SHOWS DEDICATED TO LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP
(Miami, FL) - Valentine's Day is a weekend celebration at Discovery Family Channel with a lineup of episodes from some of its favorite series celebrating love and friendship. From Saturday to Sunday, the network will offer something for every member of the household from animated series such as Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop to special episodes of Cake Boss and some beloved films from a recent past. The special programming kicks off at 9:00 AM (8:00 AM central) and culminates at 11:00 PM (10:00 PM central).
Below a detailed description of each special and their respective air times:
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH:
· Strawberry Shortcake S2 marathon: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM (8:00 AM to 1:00 PM central)
The audience will go back to Berry Bitty City, where the clever Strawberry is always ready to lend a helping hand and come up with solutions to most problems. Through interesting and age appropriate stories, Strawberry Shortcake introduces children in the viewing audience to three important concepts: citizenship, civility, and character traits that define the responsible, caring person.
· My Little Pony Specials:
o My Little Pony Crystal Princess: The Runaway Rainbow: 2:00 to 2:30 PM
(1:00 to 1:30 PM central)
The Rainbow Celebration is almost near as everyone in Ponyville prepares and awaits the first rainbow of the season. Meanwhile at the magical city of Unicornia, Cheerilee is teaching a young unicorn pony named Rarity about being a Rainbow Princess and her duties to make the First Rainbow of the Season using the magic wand. Rarity is still young and she accidentally uses the wand, which in turn teleports her into the middle of Breezie Blossom. Cheerilee, Brights Brightly and Whistle Wishes venture outside Unicornia in search of her. Rarity befriends the Breezies and they visit Ponyville and later Rarity feels homesick. Pinkie Pie, Minty, Rainbow Dash, Spike and the Breezies help her get home, just in time for the first rainbow of the season.
o My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade: 3:00 to 3:30 PM (2:00 to 2:30 PM central)
The Spring Promenade is nearly here, and the ponies are preparing for it with the help of the Breezies. But a troublesome weed lands Wysteria and Pinkie Pie in a mysterious cave where Spike the dragon has been sleeping for a thousand years. He makes Wysteria a princess, but Wysteria learns that it's more important to be true to yourself.
o My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure: 4:00 to 4:30 PM (3:00 to 3:30 PM central)
The Winter Wishes Festival is finally coming and all the ponies in Ponyville are excited to see Twinkle Wish, a wishing star who grants each pony one special wish. However, after Twinkle Wish gets kidnapped by a dragon named Whimsey Weatherbe, the entire event is facing a big dilemma and it's up to Pinkie Pie and her friends to get her back before the night of the festival, otherwise, everyone's wishes won't be granted, and the festival would be ruined.
· Cake Boss: 5:00 to 7:00 PM (4:00 to 6PM central)
Buddy Valastro is one of the most successful and renowned cake artists in the United States. Master baker of Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey, Buddy is the Cake Boss.He supervises a team that includes his mother, four older sisters and plenty of cousins, second cousins and brothers-in-law. When you're working with family on a daily basis, there is bound to be a lot of drama. The Valastros know drama, but at the end of the day, they also know love.
· Film: Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2: 7:00 to 9:00 PM (6:00 to 8:00 PM central)
Puppy mayhem turns the lives of newlywed Chihuahua parents Papi and Chloe upside down when their rambunctious, mischievous puppies present one challenge after another. But when their human owners end up in trouble, the tiny pups will stop at nothing to save them - because in good times and hard times, the family always sticks together. So Papi, Chloe and the puppies embark on a heroic adventure, proving once again that big heroes come in small packages. Featuring an all-star cast, including George Lopez (voice of Papi), and complete with a litter of bonus features, this heartwarming tale of the meaning of family, friendship and loyalty is a special breed of fun - times five.
· Film: The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement : 9:00 PM to 11:30PM (8:00 PM to 10:30 PM central)
Mia (Anne Hathaway), still coming to terms with her life as a princess, graduates from Princeton. She returns to Genovia, and her best friend, Lilly (Heather Matarazzo), goes with her. When they arrive, Mia's grandmother (Julie Andrews) informs her that Mia cannot become queen unless she is married within 30 days. Nicholas Devereaux (Chris Pine) is one of her top suitors, though he is more interested in the crown than Mia. But when Nicholas realizes he loves Mia, he decides not to pursue her.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH:
· Littlest Pet Shop (Valentine's Day episodes): 9:00 to 11:30 AM (8:00 to 10:30 AM central)
This series follows a Blythe Baxter, a teenage girl who, after moving into an apartment in a metropolitan area, gains the ability to communicate with animals. Located below her apartment is the eponymous pet store where Blythe works and talks to a group of pets who regularly reside at a day care in the shop. Worried that a corrupt rival business will drive their shop out of business, the pets depend on Blythe to drive business into the store with her pet fashion designs.
· My Little Pony (Valentine's Day Special episodes) 11:30 AM to 2:00PM (10:30 AM to 1:00PM central)

o My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Rainbow Rocks
Princess Twilight Sparkle returnsto Canterlot High School to compete in a Battle of the Bands alongside her human friends - including a reformed Sunset Shimmer - to save the school from a band of sirens from Equestria.
o My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Friendship Games
The film's story centers around a sports competition between the students of Canterlot High School and their rivals at Crystal Prep Academy, one of whom is the human world's version of Twilight Sparkle, who is investigating magical activity around Canterlot High.
· Cake Boss: 5:00 to 6:30 PM (4:00 to 5:30PM central)

However, the pressure of living as an adult begins to overwhelm him, and he longs to return to his simple, former life as a boy.
