BASKETS RIDES AGAIN

FX Renews "Baskets" for a Second Season to Debut in Early 2017

Comedy Starring Zach Galifianakis Off to a Strong Start With The Most-Watched Basic Cable Primetime Comedy Series Premiere Since 2014

LOS ANGELES, February 23, 2016 - FX has renewed the new comedy Baskets starring Zach Galifianakis for a second season, it was announced today by Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. Baskets, co-created by Galifianakis, Louis C.K. and Jonathan Krisel, delivered the most-watched basic cable primetime comedy series premiere since 2014. The second season of Baskets will debut in early 2017.

"Baskets is bold, brilliant and incredibly funny and we could not be happier with the reception it's received in its breakout first season," Schrier said. "Baskets brings together three of the most innovative comedic minds working today - Zach, Louis and Jonathan - and we thank them, the rest of the creative team and the entire cast for everything they've done for the series."

In Baskets, Chip Baskets (Galifianakis) wants to follow his dream of being a French clown - however, reality keeps interfering. Saddled with financial difficulties and facing an impenetrable language barrier, he moves back home to Bakersfield with high hopes. There, he is forced to confront his past while working as a rodeo clown and competing with his siblings for his mother's (Louie Anderson) approval and affection. The series also stars Martha Kelly as Chip's insurance claims adjuster.

Baskets was co-created by Executive Producers Jonathan Krisel (Emmy(R) Award-nominated writer and director, Portlandia, Saturday Night Live, Man Seeking Woman), Louis C.K. (Emmy Award-winner, Louie) and Zach Galifianakis (Emmy Award-winner, Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis). M. Blair Breard, Dave Becky, Marc Gurvitz and Andrea Pett-Joseph are also Executive Producers. The series is produced by FX Productions.

Baskets topped every basic cable primetime comedy series premiere in 2015 and 2016-to-date among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers. On a Live+7 basis, through its first three episodes, Baskets remains cable's most-watched new scripted comedy series of 2016 in Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers, averaging 944,000 Adults 18-49 and 1.5 million Total Viewers.

Baskets returns with an all-new episode this Thursday, February 25 at 10 PM e/p on FX: "DJ Twins" - All the free bottled water in the world can't soften the sting of rejection during an evening with the family. Written by Jonathan Krisel; Directed by Jonathan Krisel.
