Film Explores The Late Singer's Life, Including Her Outstanding Career And Tragic Death

NEW YORK - March 15, 2016 - Today, Showtime Documentary Films announced the start of production on a film exploring the incredible career and complicated life of the memorable singer. Hers was the golden voice with the unmatchable range. Six-time Grammy(R) winner Whitney Houston was one of the most successful female recording artists of all time. After a troubled marriage to singer Bobby Brown and many years of struggles with addiction, Houston died a tragic death at the age of 48. Produced, directed and narrated by acclaimed BAFTA Award winner Nick Broomfield (Kurt & Courtney, Tales of the Grim Sleeper), the film, which will shoot in Los Angeles, will talk to the key people in Houston's life to create an indelible portrait of the artist.

The project joins an esteemed list of documentaries under the Showtime Documentary Films banner that focus on the lives and legacies of culture-defining figures. With behind-the-scenes materials, candid interviews and performance footage, including many of Houston's greatest hits, this film will offer a raw and uncensored look at Houston and explore the impact her life and death had on the people around her and on the world of music.
