DARWIN'S BLADE (NBC, New!) - Chris Morgan and Duane Swierczynski are set to team for a small screen take on Dan Simmons's novel about Darwin "Dar" Minor, "a brilliant yet arrogant accident-reconstruction specialist who consults police on the bizarre cases no one else can solve." Morgan and Ainsley Davies will executive produce via their Universal Television-based Chris Morgan Productions with Swierczynski as a co-executive producer. 15 years ago, ABC took a stab at the property with director Jan de Bont and writer Matt Witten among the auspices. EXORCIST, THE (FOX) - Roy Lee's Vertigo Entertainment has inked a multi-year first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television. The pact gives the studio first crack at any of the company's output. (Deadline.com)
HARMONY (ABC, New!) - Peter Paige, Bradley Bredeweg and Jacob Chase are set to team with director Jon Chu, composer Stephen Schwartz and Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik for a new drama "set in the town of Harmony, NY, where residents have the most unique dialect in the world: They sing their feelings and dance their emotions. When a brutal murder rocks this thriving tourist destination, a repressed detective must return to the musical town he left as a teen - to solve the crime and confront the ghosts that have haunted him since he fled." Bredeweg, Paige, Chu, Schwartz and Ondrasik will executive produce the project, which has a pilot production commitment, for ABC Studios alongside Jonathon Komack-Martin and Mandeville Television's David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks with Chase as a co-executive producer. HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, THE (Netflix) - Annabeth Gish will recur on the upcoming drama in a yet-to-be-revealed role. The show's ensemble includes Carla Gugino, Michael Huisman, Timothy Hutton Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Siegel and Henry Thomas. (Deadline.com)
MSU: MOTORCYCLE SPECIALTY UNIT (NBC, New!) - Heather Zuhlke ("Power") has set up a potential drama at the Peacock which "follows an elite unit of LAPD motor cops on their dangerous assignments." Actor Josh Duhamel and director-producer Jude Weng are also attached to executive produce alongside Chris Morgan and Ainsley Davies for the Universal Television-based Chris Morgan Productions. NASHVILLE (CMT) - Josh Stamberg, Jake Etheridge, Rainee Lyleson, Nic Luken and Dylan Arnold are all bound for the show's sixth season. Stamberg will play Darius, "an extremely charismatic founder of a self-actualization movement that has transformed many lives"; with Etheridge as Sean, "a recent military veteran who suffers from severe PTSD and has yet to embrace his talent and passion for music"; Lyleson as Alannah, "a singer-songwriter who is a newcomer to the Nashville music scene and starts out as a backup singer but soon will be discovered for the star that she actually is meant to be"; Luken as Jonah Ford, "a pop star who is very handsome, extremely confident and charming and exudes all the qualities of a superstar"; and Arnold as Twig, "a childhood friend of Jonah and a member of his entourage who navigates this lifestyle by guarding his anxiety and pain with a caustic, brilliant sense of humor." ONCE UPON A TIME (ABC) - Nathan Parsons is the latest to recur on the series as Nick, "a confident and charismatic slacker-turned-successful-lawyer. He's polished, but not stuffy or smarmy. TWILIGHT ZONE, THE (CBSAA, New!) - Chairman and CEO of CBS Corporation Leslie Moonves told investors today a reboot of the famed anthology series is in development at the streaming service. Marco Ramirez ("Marvel's The Defenders") is penning the script with Monkeypaw Productions' Jordan Peele also attached as an executive producer for CBS Television Studios. (THR.com)
WALKAWAYS (NBC, New!) - Andrea Newman and Michael Gilvary ("Chicago Fire") have booked a potential drama at the Peacock about "two disgraced NYC police detectives - an overachieving, hard-charging young woman and a brilliant but broken-down veteran - who are paired up and given one last chance to redeem themselves by solving the department's toughest and most radioactive "walkaway" cases." The project is set up at Universal Television-based Chris Morgan Productions with Chris Morgan and Ainsley Davies likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
