BELOVED BRITISH DRAMA SERIES "DOC MARTIN" IS COMING TO OVATION TV STARTING THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9

Doc Martin to Follow Death in Paradise, Expanding Thursday Nights with a Double Dose of British Mystery

Los Angeles, CA - November 17, 2021 Ovation TV, America's only arts network, will begin airing the first five seasons of British drama series Doc Martin next month. Created by Dominic Minghella, Doc Martin is a beloved dramedy produced by Buffalo Pictures and executive produced by Mark Crowdy. Martin Clunes stars as the gruff Doc Martin in this comedic fish out of water tale about a city doctor who moves to the country. Doc Martin will air in three-hour blocks starting on Thursday, December 9th at 11pm ET. Viewers can enjoy a double dose of British mystery every Thursday night, with three episodes of Doc Martin airing immediately after four episodes of Death in Paradise.

When the brilliant but socially awkward and neurotic Doc Martin develops an aversion to blood, he abandons his career as a celebrated London surgeon and becomes the only doctor in a sleepy small town where his tactless manner soon has the whole town in an uproar. Season one will begin airing on Thursday, December 9th. Season two will begin airing on Thursday, December 23rd. Additional seasons will air in 2022.

Episodes will also be available on demand and on the Ovation NOW app via Roku, iOS devices, Apple TV, and Android. Episode descriptions are below.

Episode 101 "Camino a Bodmin" airs Thursday, December 9 at 11pm ET

When a vacancy arises in the sleepy Cornish hamlet of Portwenn, Dr Martin Ellingham jumps at the chance, but later realizes that adjusting to village life is not going to be plain sailing. In his sharp suits and flashy car, Martin is like a fish out of water, and his brusque manner does not go down too well with some of the locals.

Episode 102 "Gentlemen Prefer" airs Friday, December 10 at 12am ET

Martin has decided to stay in Portwenn but realizes that he will have to make some changes to the way in which the surgery is run. When he refers Roger the former teacher for a biopsy, the results bring bad news. Roger is also bitter because Louisa got his old job. Martin also fires Elaine for inefficiency - only to find that the entire village shun him.

Episode 103 "S... Happens" airs Friday, December 10 at 1am ET

Martin makes his debut on a local radio station - but doesn't make a great impression on the interviewer, Bert and Al argue over Al's plans to go to college, and a nasty stomach bug sweeps through the village - but is the swimming pool or the water to blame? Meanwhile, Louise is keen to make amends with Martin, but then Mark invites himself along too.

Episode 104 "El Efecto Portwenn" airs Thursday, December 16 at 11pm ET

The Portwenn Players dance is being held in the village. Louisa buys two tickets and invites Martin along, but as dancing and social occasions are not his thing he turns her down. Louisa then invites Mark instead. He is over the moon and asks Martin's advice on his lack of success with the opposite sex.

Episode 105 "Of All the Harbors in All the Towns" airs Friday, December 17 at 12am ET

An old flame of Joan's sails back into her life and sweeps her off her feet, then Martin discovers that the man is seriously ill. Elsewhere, schoolgirl Melanie develops a crush on the doctor and Martin fears her father's wrath when she keeps showing up at the surgery.

Episode 106 "Haemophobia" airs Friday, December 17 at 1am ET

Martin doesn't take kindly to the influx of holidaymakers, and his attempts to point out the dangers of sunbathing to one woman don't come across very well. Elsewhere, gossip spreads about Martin's phobia of blood and he becomes the subject of a practical joke in the pub, and one of Louisa's pupils has an accident and an ambulance has to be called to take him to Truro for emergency treatment.
