ALIEN (FX on Hulu) - Sydney Chandler is the first to be cast in the franchise's TV incarnation "that takes place in the Alien franchise on Earth, 70 years from current day." No character details however were given. (Deadline.com)
MECH CADETS (Netflix) - The animated series, due on August 10, has cast Daniel Dae Kim as General Aiden Park; Ming-Na Wen as Dolly Yu; Brandon Soo Hoo as Stanford Yu; Debra Wilson as Chief Max; Aparna Brielle as Ava Patel; Victoria Grace as Olivia Park; Josh Sundquist as Frank Olivetti; Anairis Quinones as Maya Sanchez; and James Yaegashi as Captain Tanaka. The 10-episode series is based on Greg Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa's comic book of the same name. Writer Aaron Lam, Shuzo John Shiota, Jack Liang, Stephen Christy and Ross Richie are the executive producers for Polygon Pictures and Boom! Studios. Mette Norkjaer is a co-executive producer, Bill E. Miller is a producer, and Tohru Patrick Awa is the supervising director. (Deadline.com)
NEON (Netflix) - Daddy Yankee has signed on as an executive producer of the upcoming reggaeton series and will make a cameo appearance. (Deadline.com)
POWER BOOK III: RAISING KANAN (Starz) - Wendell Pierce and Erika Woods will both recur on the upcoming season. Pierce plays Ishmael "Snaps" Henry, "a living legend on the street, former bank robber, and OG dealer who now acts as a mentor and financier for up-and-comers like Kanan along with his partner and wife, the love of his life, Stephanie 'Pop' Henry, played by Woods." WHAT ARE THE ODDS? (NBC, New!) - Sam Sklaver and Kevin Hench are set to team for a potential comedy at the network "that uses the backdrop of gambling to look at all the other bets people make in their lives – choosing friends, jobs and relationships. The series will explore how all of our most meaningful decisions are really just big bets with hugely uncertain outcomes." Peyton Manning is also on board to executive produce for Omaha Productions and Universal Television. (Deadline.com)
