ELIZABETH CHAMBERS EXPLORES THE DARK AND DANGEROUS SIDE OF LOVE WITH ID'S NEW SERIES "TOXIC"

New Series premieres Monday, May 5 at 10/9c on ID

(New York, NY) - Today, Investigation Discovery unveiled the trailer premiere date for TOXIC, a powerfully illuminating new series hosted by Elizabeth Chambers. This six-part series follows Chambers as she draws from her experience and background as an investigative journalist to delve into the dark and twisted side of relationships. Through conversations with survivors from across the country, Chambers brings viewers into the raw and real stories of those affected by destructive relationship dynamics, showcasing the lasting trauma and tragedy that can result from unhealthy relationships. TOXIC premieres Monday, May 5 at 10/9c on ID will be available to stream on Max.

Over the course of the season, TOXIC will feature Chambers as she explores different cases from across the country involving toxic relationships that are mired in violence, manipulation, and deceit. With each case, Chambers meets with survivors, as well as family members and loved ones of victims, to amplify their stories and work to find some semblance of closure or justice as they work through their own healing journeys. In the season premiere, Sleeping with a Stranger, airing Monday, May 5 at 10/9c on ID, Chambers speaks with Kelly Sutliff, her friends, and her family to unpack how Kelly's whirlwind romance with her ex-husband went from a fairytale to a nightmare - that still haunts her.

Elizabeth untangles the web of lies that wrongfully imprisoned Michelle Hadley for 88 grueling days. Michelle went from upstanding citizen to infamous villain when her ex-fiancé, US Marshall Ian Diaz, and his new wife, Angela, accused her of harassing and threatening them, and orchestrating rape attempts against Angela for revenge. Now, Michelle finally gets to take back her power and her voice as she reveals the twisted truth behind the frame job by her demented ex.

The Depraved Heart

Premieres Monday, May 19 at 10/9c on ID

Elizabeth meets with the Harris family to investigate the tragic loss of their beloved daughter, and sister, Sarah. What was supposed to be a routine dental visit for Sarah turned into a toxic and dangerous relationship with a well-respected oral surgeon. Elizabeth joins the family's fight for justice against the man who weaponized his power and privilege to manipulate the family, and hook Sarah on surgical drugs that tragically took her life.

Don't Shoot Mommy

Premieres Monday, June 2 at 10/9c on ID

Elizabeth investigates the troubling case of Kate Ranta, a military wife who found herself in an abusive relationship and battling all the systems that protect abusers. Tom Maffei repeatedly used his military service as a get-out-of-jail free card, and despite Kate's repeated pleas for help, no one listened. Her final call for help came the night Tom shot Kate and her father multiple times in front of their 4-year-old son.

Surviving Strangis

Premieres Monday, June 9 at 10/9c on ID

Elizabeth digs into convicted conman, Anthony Strangis. Years removed from the infamous con involving his wife Sarma Melngailis, Anthony is a free man with a new identity. After unpacking his MO with Sarma herself, Elizabeth uncovers a string of alleged new victims, from a Hollywood actor to an unsuspecting family in Southern California, to his own sister. New revelations suggest Anthony Strangis is at it again and put Elizabeth hot on his trail.

Chasing A Ghost

Premieres Monday, June 16 at 10/9c on ID

Elizabeth continues her quest for answers about convicted conman, Anthony Strangis, but this time she is looking for the man himself. After speaking with a number of his alleged new victims and seeing the trauma left in his wake, Elizabeth wants answers. He's been living in the shadows, maneuvering more quietly since his previous conviction, but Elizabeth is determined to find him. After the trail goes cold, unexpected intelligence from a former DOJ special agent leads Elizabeth right to Anthony's front door.

Elizabeth Chambers is an investigative journalist, celebrated entrepreneur, and advocate who seamlessly blends business savvy with creative vision. A magna cum laude graduate of the Moody School of Journalism at the University of Texas, she has worked as a prominent journalist for almost 2 decades. She's also known as the founder and CEO of the beloved Texas-based restaurant chain, BIRD bakery.

Elizabeth has grown her brand into an international and cultural staple known for its quality, cult following, and unforgettable menu. Her career in journalism began bringing stories to life as a correspondent for Current TV, CNN, The Human Rights Foundation, and The Food Network.
