Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Holds Off Competition in Demos

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (2/2/17):

ABC (6.566 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) held onto the top spot on Thursday with new episodes from "Grey's Anatomy" (8.444 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.3, #2), "Scandal" (6.568 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.8, #4) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (4.687 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6).

CBS (8.343 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) then was a competitive second with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (14.550 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.1, #1), the premiere of "Superior Donuts" (10.606 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #3), "Mom" (8.789 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #5), "Life in Pieces" (6.646 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6) and the launch of "Training Day" (4.733 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T12).

Next up was NBC (4.928 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) and its new lineup of "Superstore" (3.986 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T8), "Powerless" (3.082 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T10), "Chicago Med" (6.252 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T8) and "The Blacklist" (4.999 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T12).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.943 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up the season finale of "Hell's Kitchen" (3.690 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T10) and a new "My Kitchen Rules" (2.197 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14).

And finally, a new "Supernatural" (1.748 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #15) and week two of "Riverdale" (1.136 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.4, #16) closed out the night on The CW (1.442 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.6/4; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

FOX (8.899 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) was the network to beat on Thursday with a new "American Idol" (8.820 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.2, #4) and a second hour of "American Idol" (8.979 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.3, #T2).

CBS (8.545 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2) then took home the silver with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (15.168 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.7, #1), "Life in Pieces" (9.444 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #T2), "Mom" (8.006 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.8, #5), "Angel from Hell" (6.291 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.4, #7) and "Elementary" (6.179 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9).
