ABC NEWS' 'NIGHTLINE' RANKS NO. 1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS FOR 6TH STRAIGHT WEEK

'Nightline' Beats CBS' 'The Late Late Show with James Corden' in All Key Demos

'Nightline' Posts Double-Digit Gains Week to Week Across All Key Demos

'Nightline' Scores Its Most-Watched Telecast in Over 3 Months

ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (+882,000) for the 6th straight week during the week of Jan. 2, 2023, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research outdelivering NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" and CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden." "Nightline" also beat CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.

"Nightline" posted double-digit gains week to week in Total Viewers (+22% - 882,000 vs. 721,000), Adults 25-54 (+13% - 206,000 vs. 182,000) and Adults 18-49 (+17% - 151,000 vs. 129,000).

For the 6th week in a row, "Nightline" improved on the year-ago week in Total Viewers (+6% - 882,000 vs. 833,000).

On Monday (1/2/23), "Nightline" delivered its most-watched telecast (1.046 million) in more than 3 months ― since 9/26/22.

Season to date, "Nightline" is growing compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+7% - 897,000 vs. 838,000) and Adults 18-49 (+1% - 159,000 vs. 128,000). In addition, "Nightline" leads CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in all key target demos.

This week, "Nightline" covered Buffalo Bills' safety Damar Hamlin's cardiac arrest and progress, the story of an adopted man stolen from his birth mom in Chile; George Santos' work and education lies; Bryan Kohberger's first court appearance; "Varsity Blues" mastermind Rick Singer's sentencing; "Real Housewives" star Jennifer Shah's sentencing; and Kevin McCarthy's election as U.S. speaker of the House.

NOTE: On Monday (1/2/23), CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" was coded as a special and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" was retitled to "Seth Meyers-SM" due to the New Year's holiday. CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" was retitled to "Late Late Show-JC-ENC" from Tuesday thru Friday. On Friday (1/6/23), "Late Night with Seth Meyers" was retitled to "Seth Meyers-SM" due to being a repeat. The specialed and retitled telecasts are excluded from the season averages. CBS' weekly averages are based on four days (Tuesday-Friday), and NBC's weekly highlights are based on three days (Tuesday-Thursday).
