OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS (USA) - Christine Lahti ("Jack & Bobby") and Johnny Sneed ("Unhitched") are the latest additions to the 90-minute drama pilot, about Lt. Rachel Scott (Emily Rose), a former Marine who returns from a tour as a Navy surgeon to take a post at a military hospital. Lahti will play Cmdr. Helen Keller, the hospital's chief administrator who butts heads with Rachel almost from the get-go, while Sneed is set as Capt. Will McKay, who might share a history with Rachel. Nick Zano and Diana Maria Riva also star in the Universal Cable Productions-based project, which Andy Tennant is directing from a script by co-creators John Peaslee and Judd Pillot. Conan O'Brien and David Kissinger also serve as executive producers via their Conaco Productions banner.
UNTITLED RICHARD LAGRAVENESE PROJECT (Showtime, New!) - Feature writer/director Richard LaGravenese ("P.S. I Love You") is developing a new drama at the pay channel about a suburban couple who get mixed results when they try to spice things up by meeting new friends. He'll write, direct and executive produce the hour alongside Stacy Rukeyser, Clark Peterson, Dennis Erdman and Alexandra Milchan. No other specifics were given.
