The 35th Annual People's Choice Awards Kicked Off Award Season with Big Names and Even Bigger Surprises

THE 35TH ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS KICKED OFF AWARD SEASON WITH BIG NAMES AND EVEN BIGGER SURPRISES

Winners Include "The Dark Knight," Carrie Underwood, Will Smith, "House," "Wall-E," Reese Witherspoon, Chris Brown, Ellen DeGeneres, "The Secret Life of Bees," Angelina Jolie, "Dancing with the Stars," Christian Bale, Kid Rock, Brad Pitt, "Two and a Half Men," Katy Perry, Hugh Laurie, Christina Applegate, Robin Williams and Heath Ledger

Winners for THE 35TH ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS were announced during a live broadcast hosted by Queen Latifah on Wednesday, Jan. 7 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/ delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Four categories remained open for online voting through the first hour of the live broadcast - Favorite New TV Comedy ("Gary Unmarried"), Favorite New TV Drama ("The Mentalist"), Favorite Online Sensation ("Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog") and Favorite User-Generated Video ("Barack Roll").

Two contests were announced during the award show, featuring two People's Choice Award favorites. Winner for Favorite Group of 2008, Rascal Flatts told fans to create and vote on the cover art for their 6th studio album, Unstoppable. Host and nominee Queen Latifah is offering singer/songwriters the chance to be featured on her upcoming album, Persona. Submissions for both contests will be accepted at the People's Choice Web site, http://www.pcavote.com/.
