NBC.COM SMASHES TRAFFIC RECORDS IN '08

Site Posts Record Numbers Across All Metrics

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - January 20, 2009 - NBC.com today announced its final traffic numbers for 2008, and posted record results across all meaningful measurements. All previous highs, including page views, unique visitors, visits and video streams, were bested and showed double-digit growth, year over year. Among other broadcast network sites, NBC.com ranked number one in unique visitors in seven out of twelve months of the year. The announcement was made by Vivi Zigler, President, NBC Universal Digital Entertainment.

"These results are tremendous," said Zigler. "In a year when entertainment was challenged by the strike, our users discovered the wealth of content on NBC.com, creating significant and sustained audience growth."

Adding to NBC.com's growth were the launches of several new and exciting content features and technical innovations. Among them - Viewing Parties, which allow users to watch full episodes while chatting with friends; "The Biggest Loser" League, a health-based social network built around the popular program; several webisode series from "The Office," "Heroes," and "Chuck"; in-universe content like "Heroes Evolutions: Friend or Foe" and "The Office"'s Meredith Blog; and original online programming such as Jimmy Fallon's Video Blog; "30 Rock"'s Kenneth the Web Page webisodes and the NBC Universal Digital Studio's "Gemini Division."

Traffic highlights from 2008 include:

--Page views increased 13%, uniques +34%, and visits +29%, year over year.

--Short video streams were up 66% and full episodes streams grew by 25%.

--NBC.com led all broadcast sites in unique visitors seven out of twelve months in 2008 (January, February, June, August, September, October and December).

--In 2008, NBC.com generated the highest monthly average uniques (8.3 million) versus all other broadcast network sites .

--"Saturday Night Live" and "The Office" were the site's top performers in page views - one and two respectively - followed by "Heroes," "The Biggest Loser," and "Deal or No Deal."

--The "SNL" clip starring Tina Fey as Sarah Palin and Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton scored as the most viewed "SNL" video ever (more than 11 million streams).

--The show sites with the highest short-clip streaming were "SNL," "The Office," "America's Got Talent," Jay Leno's Garage, and "Heroes."

--The show sites with the highest full episode streaming were "The Office," "Heroes," "Lipstick Jungle," "Chuck" and "30 Rock."

--NBC.com's widgets increased the overall reach of the brand online by an average of 43 per cent per month in Q4.

--Widget views increased almost ten-fold in Q4 (22 million views) versus Q1 (2.3 million) and totaled 35 million views in 2008.
