LOS ANGELES (Feb. 17, 2009) The 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards honoring the outstanding performances of calendar year 2009, originally scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010 has been moved to Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 due to scheduling conflicts, it was announced today by SAG Awards Producer Kathy Connell. The celebration of the year's finest acting achievements will be simulcast live from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center on TNT and TBS, marking the 13th consecutive year the Awards have been telecast on television's destination for drama and fifth year on cable's top-rated comedy network. Recipients of The Actor statuettes are selected solely by the members of Screen Actors Guild. "Actors take great pride in being honored by their peers and look forward each year to the opportunity to celebrate together," commented Connell.

Nominees for the Screen Actors Guild Awards are chosen by separate film and television nominating committees, each composed of 2100 actors, random-selected anew in the spring each year from the Guild's nationwide membership of more than 120,000 acting professionals. The entire active Guild membership is given the opportunity to vote via online or paper ballot for the recipients of the Screen Actors Guild Awards coveted bronze Actor statuettes.
