61ST STREET/INVITATION TO A BONFIRE (AMC) - The network has nixed both projects as part of the company's recently announced $400 million write-downs for "strategic programming assessments." Season two of "61st Street" had already been shot while four of the six episodes of newcomer "Bonfire" had been completed. While AMC has no plans to air said efforts, it could ultimately license them elsewhere. (Variety.com)
ASTRID & LILLY SAVE THE WORLD (Syfy) - The cable channel has pulled the plug on the series after one season. (TVLine.com)
FARGO (FX) - Lukas Gage will recur on the upcoming fifth season of the series as Lars Olmstead. No other character details were given. (Variety.com)
FREEMAN (Peacock, New!) - Adam Starks has sold a new drama to the streamer which "follows a family, which moves to a small, picturesque town in Georgia after acquiring a lucrative inheritance, including the mysterious house known as Freeman Manor. It's soon discovered that there are mysteries and darkness hidden within the walls, and the town at large, that go back generations." The project has set up a mini writers' room with My So-Called Company's Julie Plec and Emily Cummins also executive producing for Universal Television. (Deadline.com)
GEN V (Amazon) - The streamer has opened a writers' room for a second season of the series with Michele Fazekas serving as sole showrunner. Her writing partner Tara Butters "is taking a break from the business for some family time," according to said report. (Deadline.com)
POWER SLAP: ROAD TO THE TITLE (TBS, New!) - A reality series based around a new sports league from Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta and Craig Piligian "focused on competitive open-handed striking," has been pushed at least week after White was "caught on camera slapping his wife over the holidays." Originally scheduled for January 11, the series is now set for a January 18 bow. The eight-part series, which is produced by Pilgrim Media Group, "follows athletes competing to earn a spot in the cast house, the first Power Slap rankings, in future Power Slap matches and world recognition." (Deadline.com)
PRESUMED INNOCENT (Apple TV+) - Ruth Negga is on track to star opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in the limited series based on Scott Turow's courtroom thriller. Negga will play Barbara Sabich, "the role played by Bonnie Bedelia in the film. Barbara is an artist, gallerist, mother and wife whose life is upended when her husband, Rusty Sabich (Gyllenhaal), is accused of murdering his mistress. Barbara fights to keep her family intact as she tends to her broken heart and broken marriage, and contends with her husband's highly publicized trial." (Deadline.com)
