NICKELODEON'S "NICK NEWS" DISCUSSES THE FUTURE OF TIKTOK IN THE U.S., FEATURES THE RETURN OF FLIP PHONES AND EXPLORES TECH-ENABLED HOUSING SOLUTIONS IN A BRAND-NEW EPISODE PREMIERING WEDNESDAY, MAY 31

Nickelodeon will air a brand-new episode of its award-winning series Nick News, Wednesday, May 31, at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT), which will lead with a report on the U.S. states that have instituted bans on TikTok and the additional legislatures that are following suit. Additionally, the episode will feature a group of kids who have abandoned social media and traded in their smart phones for flip phones, plus a report on solutions to America's housing shortage through innovative technologies like 3D printed homes. Viewers will also be treated to a broad range of testimonials from kids who are first generation Americans and get an introduction to popular Creator SeanDoesMagic.

Nick News' May installment will feature the following stories:

· TikTok's Future in America: Nick News correspondents Jane McManus and Kahlil Greene dig deep into how the ban of TikTok would affect young people and the overall social landscape.

· Luddite Club: Nick News correspondent Taylor Cassidy talks with the founder of the Luddite Club, a group of teenagers who reject technology and its mounting hold on all our lives.

· 3D Homes: Nick News correspondent Tejas Hullur delves into the growing housing shortage in America and solutions to fix it, including 3D printed homes, prefab/prebuilt homes and other environmentally sound structures.

· First Generation Families: This segment features testimonials from kids who are first generation Americans and share their experiences navigating both American and their native cultures.

· Amazing Kid: A profile on YouTuber SeanDoesMagic, who shares his life story and a message of perseverance that helped propel him to social media stardom.

Nickelodeon's Nick News has won 10 Emmys, a Peabody, a Columbia DuPont, and the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for Journalistic Excellence, the first and only time it was given to a children's program. The show originally aired for 25 years, ending with the retirement of creator and original host Linda Ellerbee in 2016. Created with a core ethos of respecting its kid audience, the show explained world events in a direct way, and always ensured kids were given a platform to voice their opinions and a safe place to question the world. Nick News made its return in 2020 with a special hour-long presentation Kids, Race and Unity: A Nick News Special, hosted by global superstar Alicia Keys. Nick News is executive produced by Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson, Vice President of News Programming, Nickelodeon and Executive Producer of Nick News.
