ABC News' "Nightline" Ranks No. 1 Across All Key Demos

'Nightline' Posts Double-Digit Gains Week to Week on All Key Demos

'Nightline' Scores Its Largest Overall Audience in Nearly Two Years

ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (964,000), Adults 25-54 (246,000) and Adults 18-49 (178,000) during the week of Jan. 16, 2023, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

"Nightline" posted double-digit gains week to week in Total Viewers (+15% - 964,000 vs. 837,000), Adults 25-54 (+34% - 246,000 vs. 183,000) and Adults 18-49 (+35% - 178,000 vs. 132,000). "Nightline" drew its largest overall audience in nearly 2 years ― since w/o 2/15/21.

"Nightline" improved on the year-ago week in Total Viewers (+16% - 964,000 vs. 831,000).

On Monday (1/16/23), "Nightline" scored its strongest telecast in Total Viewers (1.213 million), Adults 25-54 (442,000) and Adults 18-49 (340,000) since September ― since 9/26/22, 9/19/22 and 9/19/22, respectively.

Season to date, "Nightline" is growing compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+8% - 908,000 vs. 841,000). In addition, "Nightline" leads CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in all key target demos.

This week "Nightline" covered a new milestone for Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger; the 12-year-old star behind the persona of "M3GAN"; Biden facing mounting scrutiny; the Chrisleys beginning their prison sentences; victims of Jenifer Shah's nationwide telemarketing scheme speaking out; what inspired Kristin Chenoweth's new book; Alec Baldwin and "Rust" armorer charged with involuntary manslaughter; one family's story of courage and survival chronicled in a new documentary; why a mother believes an Apple AirTag led to her son's murder; and the murder of Kelley Clayton.

NOTE: On Monday (1/16/23), CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" was coded as a special due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. On Friday (1/20/23), CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" was retitled to "Late Late Show-JC-ENC" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" was retitled to "Seth Meyers-SM" due to being repeats. The specialed and retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. CBS' weekly averages are based on three days (Tuesday-Thursday), and NBC's weekly averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).
